Another popular product is being recalled.

Anker Portable Chargers is headed for another major round of recalls. 5 types of portable chargers from the brand have been said to cause potential harm and danger. Roughly 481,000 chargers are included in this recall.
The recall of almost half a million portable chargers involves Anker Power Banks with model numbers A1647, A1652, A1257, A1681, and A1689. The recall is due to the lithium-ion battery in the power bank overheating, posing fire threats and burn hazards to users.

The involved models can be seen above. To see if you’ve been impacted, you can search for the serial number on your device. To find it, you can see where “Anker” is engraved on the front, and the model number is located on the back or side of the power bank. You can find the serial number next to “SN Code” on the back or side of the power bank.

The company encourages customers to stop using the recalled banks to visit their recall page to check if their serial numbers match the recalled products. You can also register your impacted chargers and receive a full cash refund or a gift card for a different Anker Product. To receive the refund, you are required to submit a photo of your charger, show the serial numbers and your name, the date of the photograph, and the word “recalled” written on the power bank in permanent marker.

After this submission, the company will give you instructions on how to return or dispose of the power bank. They also stress not to throw away the recalled lithium-ion battery or device in the trash. They must be disposed of differently because they are more likely to catch on fire than regular batteries. A municipal household hazardous waste (HHW) collection center near you may accept the recalled lithium-ion battery or device for safe disposal. Before taking your battery or device to a HHW collection center, contact that office ahead of time and ask whether it accepts recalled lithium-ion batteries.

These particular batteries have led to 33 reports of fire and explosion incidents, 4 of which were minor burn injuries, and one report of substantial property damage. These particular batteries were sold at Best Buy, Target, and other stores nationwide. Online, they were sold at Amazon.com, AliExpress.com, eBay.com, Walmart.com and on TikTok from August 2023 through June 2025 for between $30 and $50.

This isn’t the first time this company has had to recall several portable chargers due to dangers posed to customers. Be sure to check your batteries to ensure safe charging at home or on vacation. As always, keep following AllEars for more.
