Being a Cast Member means you get to help create the magic for visitors daily at Disney World; however, sometimes guests take things too far.

Guests have done some pretty wild things at the Disney Parks. Even the most seasoned Cast Members encounter moments that leave them completely speechless. Here are three real stories that show just how wild things can get in the Most Magical Place on Earth.
1. Refund for Rain
I worked as a Cast Member as part of the Disney College Program in 2015. One day, I found myself on the receiving end of a guest’s frustration because it was raining at EPCOT. It was storming, and Test Track was currently closed for one of those typical Florida rainstorms. The guest wanted a partial refund for her park ticket, insisting the weather had “ruined her day.” However, I was working in merchandise, and unfortunately, that was not my department. I directed her to guest relations to assist her better.

2. Tower of Terror — Literally
The Tower of Terror might be known for its thrilling drop, but for one Cast Member at this location, the scariest part of the job came before the ride even started. Back in 2019, when a guest without a FastPass tried to hop in the FastPass line, the CM calmly explained to the guest that she would need to wait in the standby line. Once the guest became aggressive, the CM used the podium to call a coordinator for assistance. That’s when things escalated. The guest began pressing buttons, something that could seriously disrupt attraction operations, before the CM firmly told them to stop. Instead of stepping back, the guest punched the Cast Member in the face. Security and deputies quickly intervened, but the CM’s shocking encounter is a sobering reminder: there’s no excuse for physical aggression in the parks.

3. Can You Hold My Baby?
Cast Members are known for going above and beyond, but some requests push those boundaries in unexpected ways. More than one CM has been approached by guests asking if they could hold a baby. Sometimes it is so the parents can ride an attraction with a height requirement, other times so they can dash off to grab everyone’s MagicBands. While CMs love interacting with families, they are not a babysitting service, and for safety reasons, they cannot accept responsibility for a guest’s child. It’s one of those moments where the CM smiles politely, explains the policy, and tries to keep things magical, while also making sure everyone is safe.

It’s important to remember that Disney Cast Members are there to create magical moments for guests, but they’re also people with jobs to do, safety rules to follow, and limits on what they can control. Whether it’s the weather, ride availability, or height restrictions, CMs work within guidelines to keep everyone safe and make your experience as smooth as possible. Losing your temper at them doesn’t solve the problem. It only makes the day less magical for everyone involved.

So if you’re visiting the parks, channel your inner Disney hero. Treat Cast Members with kindness, patience, and respect. Say “thank you” when they help you, follow their directions, and remember: they’re part of the reason you’re able to make incredible memories in the first place. A little bit of courtesy goes a long way, and it might just make their day magical, too.
