Magic Kingdom is working away at some major changes!

Disney is currently updating attractions like Big Thunder Mountain while adding Piston Peak, a Cars-inspired land, and an entire land dedicated to the Disney Villains. As these big changes come, so do new construction changes, so let’s dive into the latest Disney permit that will lead to the demolition of a quick service!
Disney has filed a new permit directly connected to Piston Peak! In case you missed it, Tom Sawyer Island, the Rivers of America, and the Liberty Belle have officially closed to make way for the new Cars-inspired land in Frontierland. The opening day attractions closed permanently on July 7th, 2025, and Disney is already working away.

Their newest permit was filed by Walt Disney Imagineering with the description of “general construction.” They noted that they will be working with Phillips & Jordan, Inc., which is a construction company located in several spots across the U.S. We know that this permit is connected to Aunt Polly’s, the former quick service located on Tom Sawyer Island, because of the address listed on the permit.Â

While the permit doesn’t say they are demolishing the quick service, this general construction will eventually lead to the demolition of the quick service. We have already spotted Cast Members in hard hats and vests on Tom Sawyer Island as construction begins to remove the classic attractions.

We have also already spotted walls leading from the Haunted Mansion all the way down to the boardwalk lining Frontierland. The walls then continue around the bridge leading to Big Thunder Mountain down to the end of Frontierland.

These walls popped shortly after the attractions permanently closed, and we are expecting more and more walls to pop up over the next few years while they work towards the new area’s opening.

Piston Peak will have 2 brand-new attractions along with expected merchandise and snack offerings, once it finally opens. Disney has yet to share an expected opening date for the new Cars area, but we are hoping we get more information in August 2025 during Destination D23.

While we are sad to see Aunt Polly’s go, we have to admit we hadn’t stopped by the restaurant for years because it hadn’t reopened for quite some time. As always, be sure to keep following AllEars for more Disney construction and permit news.

In no finer terms: This just sucks. I’m not usually this blunt about things but after fighting this change since it was proposed I am disgusted. Maybe someday Disney will see the errors in their direction. We can only hope.
