I Can’t Be the Only Disney Adult Who HATES When People Do This in Disney World

I’m a Disney Adult, and I have some SERIOUS Disney World pet peeves.

Magic Kingdom

For my job, I spend WAY more hours in the parks than the average person, which means I get to see all kinds of guest behavior. I’ve seen people smiling and laughing and having the time of their lives, and I’ve also witnessed people absolutely ruining the theme park experience for other guests. So today, I’m sharing the big thing that I HATE when people do in Disney World.

If there’s one thing I despise more than any other, it’s when Disney World visitors RUIN the ride, show, or attraction experience for those around them. Just like you, those people paid to experience the parks, and they deserve to have an equally fun time!

So, how do people ruin experiences? Well, there are several different ways. When doing rides, one of the most universally annoying experiences is when people recite the script for the pre-show or the ride itself. Like, yes, it’s very impressive that you know all the words, but for someone experiencing the attraction for the first time, I’m sure they’d prefer to hear the Ghost Host do the stretching room spiel instead of a random stranger.

Don’t talk during the ride pre-shows!

Of course, another big annoyance before you even board a ride or attraction is when people cut the line! This can ruin the experience for others because it makes the wait time longer overall. Guys, it’s definitely not cool to “save space” in line for your family members. In fact, it’s against Disney World’s rules! On the website, it states:

“Please show common courtesy to fellow Guests and our Cast Members by not using profanity or engaging in unsafe, illegal, disruptive or offensive behavior, jumping lines or saving places in lines for others.”

Speaking of rules that people break — flash photography on rides (especially dark rides) is a no-no! Not only is this against Disney policies, but it’s distracting for the other people in your ride vehicle and it can “ruin the magic” of special effects on the ride. It’s also not allowed during live shows due to safety concerns for the performers on stage.

Having your flash on while recording fireworks shows or nighttime spectaculars is also pretty frowned upon. It’s distracting and can inhibit the view of the people around you.

Happily Ever After

And speaking of blocking the view, this might be one of the biggest pet peeves for Disney Adults. If you’re in a theater show, make sure to take off any hats or ears so the people behind you can see. If you’re watching fireworks, hold your children at eye level (NOT on your shoulders) so that the people behind you can see. And if you choose to record any shows, hold your phone in front of your face instead of above your head. Why? SO THE PEOPLE BEHIND YOU CAN SEE.

Hello Characters!

Basically, if you want to avoid angering the Disney Adults and pretty much everyone else in the park, just be courteous and mindful of those around you! Ruining the rides and shows for other people is just selfish — remember, that they’re on vacation just like you are! Yes, you and your family members want to experience the attractions and have a magical time…but so do they.
