NEW Epic Universe Permit Filed: Celebrities, Drones, and Pyrotechnics CONFIRMED

The opening day of Epic Universe is finally within sight!

Helios Grand Hotel in Epic Universe

We’re less than a month away, and while Universal Annual Passholders, hotel guests, and select other groups of guests have been able to preview the park for the past few weeks, now ANYONE can purchase a preview ticket through May 19th to experience the park and its attractions while it’s still under technical rehearsal. However, if you’re waiting for opening day and the festivities that are sure to come with it, Universal just filed tons of new permits that give us a clue as to what we may see.

This new permit was posted publicly on the county’s website and shows multiple new additions just for the month of May, presumably for the grand opening. At this time, Universal has not confirmed any special events, shows, or experiences coming to the park for May 22nd, but after seeing this permit, we have a good idea of what could be coming soon!

We are expecting tons of media coverage on Epic Universe’s opening day, and this new permit shows multiple onsite trailers around the backside of the park’s Ministry of Magic land, as well as an area titled “TODAY Show Home Base” (with areas right nearby for gear unloading, production, and food & beverage), as well as “Telemundo Home Base.”

There’s also a section of trailers listed as “Talent Trailer City” behind a fence that will separate these media companies from the talent trailers. There are ten trailers listed as just “Talent” and then numbers 1-10. Currently, permits confirm that these trailers will be in place from May 18th to 22nd. Could this mean that celebrities will be coming to the opening event? Who could they be?!

A Media Center (misspelled on the permit) will also be erected from May 17th to 22nd. It’s described as a “Media and VIP holding” spot.

But that’s not all! In the Legend of the image, you can see something called the “Pyro Launch and Fallout Zone.” While we can’t see those markings on this map, we have a feeling there will be some pyro somewhere in the park.

From what we can see from the permit, it looks like the outline for fireworks and drones wraps roughly around the back of the Helios Grand Hotel site at the back of the park, with pyro fallout reaching into the Wizarding World area. It’s also important to note that the TAIT Onsite Office Trailers seen in the image also likely have to do with some large media addition, as the company specializes in large media integration for concerts and large-scale events.
