So many flyers are still in shock after Southwest Airlines announced big changes to its seating policies, as well as the end of free checked bags. Now another airline has announced a big change that could mean you need to get to the airport even earlier. According to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journalyou’ll soon have to have all checked bags checked into the airline 45 minutes early.

Delta will soon require passengers flying domestically with checked bags to arrive at the airport even earlier because those bags will need to be checked in with the airline 45 minutes before their flight. Delta sent an email to flyers informing them of the change.

Normal cutoff times typically range from 30 minutes to an hour, but Delta now seems to be making the 45-minute rule its official policy. However, for some flights, the time bags must be checked in could be even earlier. For example, if you’re flying to JFK airport in New York, you’ll need to have those bags checked in one hour before your flight.

In a statement, the airline said the changes were made “so Delta teams can ensure all customers have a great experience that begins with safety and continues with a clean, on-time and enjoyable flight with their bags.” Delta also continues to ask all passengers to arrive at the airport at least two hours prior to their flight.
