According to the FDA, thousands of pounds of ground decaf coffee have been recalled due to a labeling error. Here’s what you need to know.

NBC reported that the FDA recalled thousands of pounds of ground coffee that was mistakenly labeled as caffeine-free across 15 states. The ground coffee is Our Family Traverse City Cherry Decaf Light Roast Ground Coffee, which was distributed to Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

At this time, no other products from the company have been affected. The recall was voluntarily made by Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA, one of the largest suppliers of coffee in the United States. The FDA has listed this as a Category ll recall, which is defined as “a situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.”

While the coffee is not supposed to contain any caffeine, it seems like there was an error that resulted in a potentially dangerous mixup.
