DOLE Whip is one of the most iconic snacks around Disney World, and Disneyland for that matter.
There are multiple different flavors you can get around the parks at any given time, but the classic and most well-known is pineapple. Quincy recently took a trip to Disney’s Aulani Resort in O’ahu, Hawai’i, and got to experience DOLE Whip in an entirely new way — at the DOLE Plantation with one of the largest DOLE Whip treats we’ve ever seen!
The DOLE Plantation is home to lots of incredible history about one of Hawai’i’s largest agricultural industries and has lots of activities for you to participate in to have fun while on your educational journey.
The Pineapple Express is a train tour around DOLE Plantation that’s great for all ages. However, we don’t think it’s totally worth your time. It was cute, but we didn’t think it was worth $15.
There’s also a Pineapple Garden Hedge Maze you can participate in, which is the largest hedge maze in the WORLD! Our pro tip here is to be sure you download the DOLE Plantation app before you arrive because there are some extra fun activities that are added to the maze while you’re getting lost.
Finally, there’s a Plantation Garden Guided Tour, which is fantastic for those looking to really learn all they can about Hawai’i’s pineapple industry. Both this and the Hedge Maze are the two activities we definitely recommend doing because they’re more bang for your buck and are more interactive than the train.
We couldn’t leave without grabbing some DOLE Whip straight from the source though, and BOY did Quincy choose to go big! This MASSIVE serving of Dole Whip was way bigger than we’ve ever seen, and there was even fresh pineapple in the bottom!
Overall, we think visiting the DOLE Plantation is definitely worth a trip if you love the sweet treat and want to learn more about the history of Hawai’i while you’re on vacation, which we think is very important when you’re visiting such a special place.

After seeing Quincy’s trip to the pineapple plantation I was reminded of a trip I made in 1990 to Queensland, Aus. While there I visited The Big Pineapple plantation, they had a Pineapple Express train but no dole whip, instead pineapple ice cream but also macadamia nut ice cream. Thanks for the memory nudge 😊
