Um, Why Is There a Random Construction Wall in Magic Kingdom, and Should We Be Worried?

We found more construction in Disney World!

Magic Kingdom

The Disney theme parks are experiencing quite a bit of change lately with major closures in Animal Kingdom, a new Monster’s Inc. Land in the works, and several new lounges coming to the parks. Now we’ve found even more construction in a surprising place!

It seems like Magic Kingdom is getting some updates. We spotted even more construction walls around the park, this time on Main Street, U.S.A.!

At the end of Main Street, you can find the Plaza Restaurant! This table service location offers up American cuisine with beautiful views of Cinderella Castle…most of the time. It seems like the Plaza is getting some updates because the beautiful windows are covered up.

The plaza construction walls!

The Plaza recently underwent some major refurbishments in June 2024 so we were surprised when we saw these walls pop up. We stopped to chat with some Cast Members to see if they had some answers for us, but it seems they were surprised too.

The Cast Member we spoke with said they hadn’t been given any warning that the construction walls were going up and they weren’t sure what was being done. From what the Cast Members could see, it just seemed like repainting.

Plaza Loaded Fries

The Plaza is one of our favorite table service spots in Magic Kingdom for last-minute dining and comfort foods. We’re ready for the walls to come back down so we can enjoy our loaded fries with pretty castle views again.

While these construction walls did catch us off guard, we are expecting quite a few of these walls to start popping up around Magic Kingdom. This park is expecting some pretty big changes in the coming years. Over in Frontierland, construction has already begun on the new Disney Vacation Club Member lounge which is replacing the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade and is expected to open Summer 2025.

Over in Adventureland, Pirates of the Caribbean fans can get excited because a new Pirates Tavern is expected to open in late 2025. The new lounge will extend the story of the fan-favorite ride where you can dine on grogs and grub!

We’re also expecting two new lands in Magic Kingdom if you want to get into the major changes expected in the next few years. Frontierland will be adding a new Cars area with two new attractions. This land will be replacing Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Bell Riverboat which are two opening-day Magic Kingdom attractions.

Coming to Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, a new area themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Cars” will leave Radiator Springs and head to the wilderness with two new attractions including an off-road race.

Behind Big Thunder Mountain, a Villains Land is also coming to Magic Kingdom! The new land is bringing two major attractions, dining options, and shopping to the park which will be the biggest expansion since New Fantasyland in 2012.

We can’t wait to see all of these changes come to life over the next few years but we will be riding the Liberty Bell and checking out Tom Sawyer Island while we can. Don’t forget to keep following AllEars for all of your Disney news and updates.
