MASSIVE REVIEW: Trying ALL the NEW Items at Disney’s Lunar New Year Festival!

Are you ready? We hope so! It’s time for the Lunar New Year Celebration at Disneyland Resort!

Lunar New Year Festival

There are so many ways to celebrate around Disneyland during this time but our favorite has to be through the FOOD. Disney added tons of new dishes this year and you know we had to try them out. So without further ado, we give you our reviews from the 2025 Lunar New Year event!

We’ll continue to update this post as we try more dishes at the 2025 Disney California Adventure Lunar New Year Festival!

Bamboo Blessings — 3/5

The Brown Sugar Milk Tea is made with Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Co. Ceylon Tea, hotteok-inspired brown sugar syrup, maple and butter pecan syrups, and oat milk garnished with banana milk-infused whipped cream. It’s available for $7.50 and while we knew it was a milk tea going in, we didn’t expect it to be so milky in texture and taste. We honestly wish we could have tasted more of the tea and brown sugar flavors.

The Mini Char Siu Pork Shanks with rice and pineapple chutney are available for $9.25. The sweet and sour sauce gives this a nice tangy flavor with a subtle kick. The pork is super tender and flavorful, and we loved that the rice was also cooked very well. The rice also soaks up the sauce, so you’re mostly getting that flavor, which was quite nice.

Mini Char Siu Pork Shanks

The pineapple provides a great tropical bite in addition to some acidity that helps cut through the kick of the dish. While it’s a mild heat, it’s certainly still subtly present. The dish as a whole has strong flavors and is surprisingly filling, so we’d give it a 4/5!

Longevity Noodle Co. — 3/5

Over at Longevity Noodle Co., you can grab the Garlic Noodles with zesty garlic butter sauce and Parmesan cheese, which cost $8.25. In the past, we enjoyed this dish, but it wasn’t anything too exciting. It was good (since it’s hard to mess up garlic butter noodles) but there are more exciting dishes at this booth and festival!

Garlic Noodles

Next up were the Shrimp Lo Mein Noodles, which are served with stir-fried vegetables, and cost $9.25. This is SUCH a delicious little bowl of noodles. The shrimp isn’t too tough or rubbery and was coated in a salty, soy seasoning with a bit of spice.

Shrimp Lo Mein

For drinks, we grabbed the Tropical Coconut Cooler for $8. It’s made with coconut cream, coconut milk, house-made jackfruit syrup, dragon fruit syrup, lychee nectar, and cherry juices garnished with mango coconut foam and rainbow jellies. This wasn’t our favorite — it was incredibly coconut-heavy and had a strong artificial sweetener taste to us.

Tropical Coconut Cooler

Finally, we grabbed the Mandarin Citrus Mule for $19, which features Mandarin vodka, grapefruit liqueur, lime juice, Mandarin and apricot purées, and candied orange syrup topped with ginger beer and garnished with orange rock candy. We hope you like vodka because there is a lot of it in this drink! It was definitely on the tart side thanks to all the citrus flavors, but it was just as sweet.

Lucky 8 Lantern — 5/5

Lucky 8 Lantern has a returning item, the Quesabirria Eggroll for $9.50. It is served with a guajillo pepper consomé, which adds a delicious flavor! The beef inside the egg roll was very juicy and tender, and overall, this makes a yummy snack that you won’t want to share.

Quesabirria Eggroll

A new food offering at this booth this year is the Chocolate Firecracker for $7.50. It is made with light chocolate mousse, chocolate ganache filling, chocolate almond dacquoise, and popping candy featuring DOVE Dark Chocolate. It was SO good! The popping candies were a really fun touch to the very airy and chocolatey dessert. It wasn’t overly dense with all the chocolate, but very light and decadent.

Chocolate Firecracker

Since this year is the Year of the Snake, a new drink was added to the menu, the Year of The Snake Margarita! This margarita was AMAZING. It’s made with reposado tequila, lime juice, kiwi syrup, and mango purée garnished with a snake gummy, and every flavor is so good in it. It’s a dangerous drink simply because of how good it is. This drink is $17.50.

Year of The Snake Margarita

There’s another new drink here, the Guava Lemongrass Cocktail. This drink is made with silver rum, guava nectar juice, house-made lemongrass syrup, and lime juice and is garnished with a lemon wheel. It will run ya $17.

Prosperity Bao & Buns — 3/5

Looking for a solid snack? Check out Prosperity Bao & Buns! The Kung Pao Bao ($9.25) made with plant-based chicken, toasted peanuts, and scallions is back this year and we’re happy about it. You can’t tell this dish is made with plant-based chicken, especially with that delicious sauce coating it. The flavors all blend together very well, including the toasted peanuts!

Kung Pao Bao

The Red Panda Bao ($9.50) debuted at Pixar Fest last year, but now it’s available here. It’s a jumbo pork and vegetable bao with chile-garlic sauce. We have to start with the sauce — it is NOT for the faint of heart! It has a serious kick.

Red Panda Bao

However, that can be avoided by eating the bao without the sauce where you’ll experience good flavor but without the heat. The inside reminded us of the filling of an egg roll.

A look inside

Moving on to drinks, you can snag a Beer Flight for $18.50 this year! It features the returning Brewery X Panda Pool Party Lager. This was so refreshing and while there wasn’t anything super special about it, it was a solid beer.

It also includes the new Study Break Lychee & White Tea Hard Seltzer (the purple drink in this photo). This was very fragrant and light.

Beer Flight

The third drink is also new. It’s the Harland Raspberry Yuja Lemonade Ale! While you could taste the raspberry lemonade flavor, this was pretty bitter. You may not expect that from the name, so beware!

And finally, we also got to try the Three Weavers Expatriate IPA. This is a pretty classic IPA so if that’s your go-to beer, we think you’d be happy with this.

A flight with a view

You can also purchase any of these as a full size drink!

Red Dragon Spice Traders — 4/5

If you love spicy food, Red Dragon Spice Traders is where you want to go. We’re not talking Disney spice either, but food that really brings the heat. The Fire Chicken Wings with sesame-seaweed crunch for $9 lives up to the “fire” name, but you also get a nice combo of sweet and smokey flavors. However, we did think the chicken was a little dry and might have benefited from some kind of sauce.

Fire Chicken Wings

The Spicy Gochujang Chicken Tacos with yuja citrus cabbage slaw for $8 also has a bit of spicy kick (hence the name). It’s salty, it’s spicy, it’s tasty. But we have to say the slaw might have been the best part because it’s nice, zesty, and crunchy.

Spicy Gochujang Chicken Tacos

So, what can you wash all that spicy food down with? The new Peach Makgeolli Cocktail for $18 is made with peach rice wine, citron vodka, ginger liqueur, cucumber syrup, and white grape and lime juices garnished with a skewered frozen peach and grape. It’s as refreshing as it sounds. Even if you don’t like spicy food, you should stop by this booth for this cocktail. Each ingredient in it just blends together so well and it goes down so smooth. We’ll also warn you: you can’t taste the alcohol.

Peach Makgeolli Cocktail

This booth was a success! Our drink, taco, and wings were all enjoyable, and we’d come here again. Check it out if you don’t mind a little spicy food.

Wrapped with Love — 2/5

The Phở Dip with rice noodles, sliced beef, shaved jalapeños, pickled onions, and Phở broth will cost you $9.50. While we really enjoyed the sandwich itself, the meat was tender, we loved the flavors of the mayo and pickled onions added, and the rice noodles offered a great texture, the pho broth did nothing for us. Unfortunately, it actually brought the sandwich down a LOT in our eyes, so we personally chose to eat the sandwich without it.

Pho Dip

We also tried the Mandarin Orange Cream Puff filled with citrus cream and Mandarin compote for $8.50. We had such high hopes for this one, but it fell very flat. It smells amazing and cuts very easily, but the textures were VERY off. The citrus cream we enjoyed, but otherwise the Mandarin compote was gritty and the dough was grainy. It was a major skip for us, so we don’t recommend it.

Mandarin Cream Puff

Aunt Cass Café — 5/5

At Aunt Cass Café, we grabbed the Almond Cookie Bread Pudding for $7.49. It is almond bread pudding with a gooey almond center, mandarin orange creme anglaise, whipped topping, toasted almonds, and an almond cookie.

Almond Cookie Bread Pudding

We loved the amount of almond flavor you get from this treat. From the almond center to toasted almonds and the almond cookie on top, if you love almonds, you will love this dessert. The bread pudding is the perfect consistency. It is moist and fluffy, without being too soggy. We thought the almond cookie on top was so yummy; it was the perfect topping for this bread pudding. It is a great size too and while it could be enough to share, you will likely want to eat a whole one yourself. If you are a lover of bread pudding or almonds, you need to add this treat to your list!

Don’t miss a stop at Aunt Cass Café!

You can also grab Snake Sourdough Bread at Aunt Cass Café, too!

Paradise Garden Grill — 4/5

Paradise Garden Grill offers an array of Lunar New Year offerings, and you can get them in a full-sized portion since this is a quick-service location or use Sip and Savor for a tasting potion.

Full Spread

First, we tried the Beef and Broccoli. The full size costs $15.49. This dish is plant-based, and unfortunately, the plant-based protein will not fool you. To us, we could tell right away that the meat was a plant-based alternative. On the other hand, the broccoli was cooked super well and had great seasoning. While we found this dish to be pretty good overall, the plant-based beef brought the score for Paradise Garden Grill down.

Beef and Broccoli

We also grabbed the Strawberries and Cream Roulade for dessert for $6.79. This dessert was delicious! It was not overly sweet and had vibrant flavors. We would even say it is refreshing, thanks to its light texture.

Strawberries and Cream Roulade

Pym Test Kitchen — 5/5

At Pym Test Kitchen, we grabbed the Legend of the Ten Spices Flatbread for $14.99, and trust us, this is not to be missed! This flatbread comes with kung pao beef, sesame spread, toasted bok choy, and napa cabbage served with onion-cilantro salad garnished with heirloom radish and chile threads. All of these flavors work so well together, but be warned — it is spicy! This dish is shareable, but you may want to keep it to yourself because it is delicious and has a great texture.

Legend of the Ten Spices Flatbread

Studio Catering Co. — 5/5

Studio Catering Co. started offering the Moo Shu Pork Burrito a little bit before the official start of the Lunar New Year Festival, and we wish we’d had it sooner! This burrito is $13.99 and comes with sautéed vegetables, egg-fried rice, and crispy noodles with a side of plum sauce. This burrito is shareable, and the plum sauce is the star of the entire dish. Everything just works so well together.

Moo Shu Pork Burrito

You can also grab the Scallion Pancake Tostada, which, unlike the burrito, is not really shareable. It is $8.49 but available on the Sip and Savor Pass. It is made with fried scallion pancake, bulgogi beef, kimchi aïoli, and spicy scallion salad. If you don’t like spice, don’t worry, there was not much heat. We loved the beef as it was so tender and had a great flavor.

Scallion Pancake Tostada

Select Outdoor Vending Carts — 4/5

Throughout California Adventure, you can find two items at select outdoor vending carts. The fan-favorite Mickey Shaped Hot Dog Bun has returned this year, and it was so popular that we could not even get one on the first day of the festival because they were sold out! Although this is pretty much just a pretzel hotdog, it is still a fun Mickey-shaped food and is a safe choice for kiddos and picky eaters. It costs $8.

Mickey-shaped Hot Dog Bun

New this year is the Sweet Taro Bread for $9.25. While this snack is good, we felt that the price point was just a bit high. The bread comes with taro cream cheese icing and condensed milk. The color of the taro is vibrant, but as a warning, it can get messy, so grab a fork and some napkins! We liked this, but the taro is a little bitter, so just a heads up if you are expecting something super sweet.

Sweet Taro Bread

Churros near Goofy’s Sky School/Señor Buzz Churros — 5/5

Here you can grab the Vietnamese Coffee Churro which is a classic churro rolled in coffee sugar topped with bold coffee icing and sweetened condensed milk for $7.50. We think this churro is an absolute winner, especially for those who love coffee. It has a good sweetness to it that goes well with the bitterness of the coffee flavor, so we give it a perfect score.

Vietnamese Coffee Churro!

Churros at Hollywood Land — 2/5

Over here you can find the Toasted Sesame and Red Bean Churro for $7.50. This is a classic churro rolled in toasted sesame sugar with red bean whipped topping and sesame tuile, and while we really wanted to like it, it fell flat for us. The flavors didn’t combine well for us, and neither did the textures.

Toasted Sesame and Red Bean Churro

The Red Bean frosting was light and airy, almost like a whipped cream consistency, while the Toasted Sesame Sugar was too toasted and hard and almost tasted burnt. The churro itself was solid, but the toppings just didn’t mesh well for us.

This wasn’t our favorite

Sketch Pad Cafe at Pixar Place Hotel — 4/5

We grabbed the Red Velvet and Creme Cheese Whoopie Pie for $8. This is cream cheese frosting sandwiched between two red velvet cake cookies, so what could go wrong? Not much, apparently. The cookies were a bit dry, but the flavor was chocolatey, and rich, and was perfectly complemented by the cream cheese frosting.

Red Velvet Whoopie Pie

We also tried the Giant Brown Butter and Lemon Fortune Cookie for $9. It’s made with brown butter and lemon zest and comes with a lemon or chocolate glaze. We wanted to love this, but it fell flat. The texture was chewy compared to what you get at your local takeout spot, and it was super sweet. The lemon does stand out but it’s really sweet and had a little too much sugar for us.
