WARNING: Parking Is About To Get COMPLICATED at Disney Springs

Parking is about to get more complicated at Disney Springs, as one of the shopping district’s three large parking garages is about to begin a refurbishment. Specifically, three of the floors of the Orange Garage are currently closed for refurbishment work, with a fourth set to join them.

Closures!

We first encountered the closures after driving over from EPCOT on Tuesday, January 14th. When we arrived at the Orange Garage, we found Levels 3-5 of the structure closed. Levels 1 and 2 remained accessible from one direction, but not from the other.

After parking, we headed over to the Disney Springs Welcome Center/Guest Services to inquire about the situation. We were told that general refurbishment work is being done on Levels 3-5 right now, and at some point, the garage’s second level will also be refurbished. We were also told that Level 1 will remain open throughout these refurbs and that Disney is anticipating the closed floors will reopen as of March 11th.

Orange Garage was inaccessible from one approach

While the Orange Garage is refurbished, the Lime and Grapefruit Garages are expected to remain open and operate normally.

Some levels are already closed.

The Orange Garage was the first of the district’s parking garages to open back in 2014, while the area was still in the midst of its massive transformation into Disney Springs from Downtown Disney. The garages feature unique parking ”technology” including sensors to monitor and direct traffic flow.
