Please Help Me, I Can’t Stop Laughing at This Seriously TERRIBLE Disney World Advice

Isn’t it something how when you share that you’re heading to Disney World, people seem to come out of the woodwork to give you their advice?

Spaceship Earth

They share all kinds of things like where you should eat at, sleep at, what rides to get on, and of course, what things to avoid like the plague. All of that got us thinking about the bad, truly terrible advice we’ve been given over the years, so we thought we’d reach out to you and get your takes. Well, we asked, and you delivered!

We reached out to our followers on Facebook and Instagram to ask: “What’s the WORST Disney World advice you’ve ever heard?” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments!

What do you think?

Now, let’s go over some of your top responses!

Go to Disney World in the Summer

For our first piece of truly terrible Disney World advice, we have this from our reader Linora when she shared, “Go in the summer, the heat is not bad.” My first reaction to this is to say, “Girl… WHO TOLD YOU THIS?!”

Magic Kingdom Summer Crowds

If you’ve ever been to Disney World in the summer, you know that the Florida heat makes it feel like you’re stepping into an oven set to 450°F. Also, the heat is relentless. (I’m sweating just thinking about it.) Not to mention, in the summer the crowds are at their peak, which means you’re stuck waiting in long lines, baking in that sun, with a nice side of Florida humidity just for fun. It’s like the trifecta of terrible. So, maybe you do yourself a favor and schedule that trip for literally any other season.

Skip the PeopleMover

Next up, our reader Ricky had our jaws hit the floor when he shared, “Don’t go on the PeopleMover, it’s slow & boring.”

PeopleMover

Maybe we’re just biased, but this ride is one of the best ways to give your tired feet a break while still getting basically a VIP Tomorrowland tour. Also, the breeze you catch on there is like sweet salvation from the swampy Florida heat. It’s a perfect mix of relaxing and people-watching. And, you even sneak a peek inside Space Mountain! So, if anyone tells you to skip the Peoplemover, well, just don’t.

Wear Heels

Next, our reader Steve heard this wild bit of advice: “Wear heels. 👠 You will look fabulous.” Okay, so my feet are crying at the thought. Now, if you’re trying to impress the Dapper Dans, maybe this makes sense.

Cinderella’s glass slipper

But listen, unless you want to spend your day limping between attractions or having a “not-so-magical experience” at First Aid getting Band-Aids, stick to something comfy. Trust me, sneakers, sandals, heck, even Crocs if you’re feeling brave, will keep you happy and blister-free as you take on the parks.

The Lines Move Quickly

Have you ever heard this next one? Our reader Lori shared one that still boggles the mind with, “The lines move quickly, once you get in them.”

Long line for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Sure, some lines can move at a decent pace, but we all know there are those dreaded moments when you finally cross the threshold into the inside part of a queue, only to feel like you’re stuck in line forever. It’s the ultimate test of patience.

Flight of Passage Line

I feel like we’ve all  made lifelong friendships while waiting in line for Space Mountain and written our memoirs standing in the Frozen Ever After line. So, if anyone tells you that lines fly by, well, they probably haven’t waited in line for Flight of Passage.

Park Hop

Get a load of this one that our reader Alyssa heard: “Park hop every day 🥴”. Whew. Let’s just take a moment to have a collective deep breath. The stress of trying to park hop every day sounds like an absolute nightmare.

Final stop after park hopping!!!

Sure, park hopping can be fun if you’ve got the energy and stamina, but trying to juggle it daily is like willingly signing up for chaos. You’ll probably spend more time on Disney transportation than actually enjoying the parks. Plus, with all the attractions, dining experiences, and shows in each park, why not take it slow and savor the magic?

Who Needs To Plan?

Our reader Brad shared one that we’ve all heard (too often): “Don’t bother planning..just show and the magic will happen.” Anyone who has actually been to Disney World knows this is just plain madness.

Magic Kingdom requires some planning

If you don’t plan ahead, you’ll end up wandering aimlessly, missing out on reservations, Lightning Lane opportunities, and wasting precious time. And trust me, you’ll be hangry when you realize you can’t just waltz into your favorite restaurant without a reservation. We get that Disney magic is real, but so is the importance of a well-thought-out itinerary.

How About Christmas?

Next, our reader Judi shared, “The best time to go is Christmas time.” (I can feel your stress coming through the screen.) Yes, Disney World is magical at Christmas time, but it’s also a mad house.

Main Street is definitely the busiest place

You’ll be shoulder-to-shoulder with what feels like the entire world who are all trying to see the same twinkling lights at Disney World. Plus, holiday pricing is no joke. While the festive vibes are strong, unless you really love crowds and chaos, you might want to aim for a quieter time.

Leave the Kids at Home

First up for this one, Casie shared, “The kids won’t remember, go when they’re older.” Boy did this one get some strong reactions from our readers. Kerri said it best with, “People need to learn that the memories are also for the parents!”

Who can resist a Stitch hug?

And Sam added, “Children remember feelings.” Even if your kiddos don’t remember every detail, they’ll feel the joy, excitement, and magic of being in Disney World. Plus, you’ll remember. Some of the best Disney memories are the ones we make watching our little ones experience it all for the first time. So, don’t let anyone tell you to wait. There’s no wrong age for Disney World magic!

  1. About the bad advice “Park hop everyday”: when we buy our week of park tickets and want to park hop any days we have to buy the park hopper option for all the days. 🤦🏻‍♀️ And then if I have the option I have paid for all the days I feel like I need to use it. Help. Are there any ways to only get it for some days if I’m buying a solid week and staying on property?
