A First-of-Its-Kind Disney World Show Has DISAPPEARED

This Disney World offering is about to disappear.

Earlier this year, Disney introduced a new nighttime spectacular at Disney World’s Disney Springs. The drone-based show, Disney Dreams That Soar, was a hit with guests but was always scheduled for a limited run. Now, that time is almost up.

Disney Dreams That Soar will present its final showing on Monday, September 2nd, Labor Day. The date seems appropriate, as the holiday is often thought of as the symbolic end of summer and the show had long been advertised as a summer exclusive. You can catch it at 9PM or 10:45PM on its final night.

Disney Dreams that Soar, which launched on May 24th, featured over 100 “state-of-the-art drones “dancing” across the sky, choreographed to a soaring musical score of iconic Disney music and memorable dialogue from beloved Disney movies.” Characters from films including  Toy Story, Coco, Dumbo, Peter Pan, Up, and the Star Wars saga were recreated across the night sky in massive drone formations.

While the show is ending for now at Disney World, it most likely won’t be the last we see of drone-based nighttime entertainment at the resort. In recent months, Disney has added several drone shows to parties around the world. These include the Disney Electrical Sky Parade drone show that has been running at Disneyland Paris since January of 2024, and the traveling Magic in the Air drone show, which toured Japan in conjunction with the opening of Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea.

In addition, earlier this year Disneyland Paris set a massive drone-related world record. In celebration of the French holiday of Bastille Day, the resort set a world record for the “largest aerial display of a fictional character formed by multirotors/drones” on July 14th. The resort used 1,571 drones to create a “breathtaking giant tricolor Mickey Mouse head” over Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant AKA the park’s version of Sleeping Beauty Castle.

According to a release from the park, “Months of work culminated in a spectacle that set a new benchmark, exemplifying Disneyland Paris’ dedication to surpassing guest expectations. The team used more than 1,630 drones, including pyro-drones, to illuminate the sky throughout the entire performance, with some sequences requiring more or fewer drones. Combining pyrotechnics, lights, and breathtaking drone choreography, the spectators witnessed a 12-minute nighttime show that took them through five creative scenes representing the most beautiful Disney classic stories inspired by France, including some of the greatest symbols of French culture like the Eiffel Tower, the emblematic rose window of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, and iconic scenes from Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios films such as Beauty and the Beast, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Sleeping Beauty, The Aristocats, and Ratatouille.”

The Disney Dreams that Soar drone show is coming to an end at Disney Springs for now, but we’re pretty sure there will be more nighttime drone shows in Disney World’s near future. Stay tuned to AllEars for further updates.
