WHAT Is Going on With This Weird Lightning Lane Trend in Disney World?!

Disney World’s new Lightning Lane system has been around for almost a month now.

Quincy is celebrating Lightning Lane Multi Pass!

We have seen mixed reactions to this new system as Genie+ officially became Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Individual Lightning Lane became Lightning Lane Single Pass. The new system mimics the original FastPass+ system as it now allows you to schedule your rides in advance through a tier system. The difference is that you now pay to use this service in advance. Lightning Lane Multi and Single Pass also give a considerable advantage to Disney World hotel guests as they can book their Lightning Lanes seven days in advance, whereas non-hotel guests can book their Lightning Lanes three days in advance. While we have been experimenting with the new system for about a month, we noticed something weird for a September date.

One perk of this new system is that you can see how much Lightning Lane Multi and Single Pass will cost each day in advance. Before, you had to wait until the day of to see how much Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane would cost. This makes it easier for those wanting to purchase this service to see how much they need to budget a little further in advance instead of the day of. It also helps our team track price trends, and we were interested in knowing why this one September date is cheaper than others.

For the first week or so of September, the Magic Kingdom Lightning Lane Multi Pass price fluctuates between $23 and $25. All of a sudden, on September 4th, the price drops to $20.

The EPCOT price also drops. It typically stays between $17 and $18, but on September 4th, it is only $15.

For Hollywood Studios, the prices for the first week or so of September are between $21 and $22, but you guessed it, the price for Lightning Lane Multi Pass drops to $20 on September 4th.

For this particular set of dates in September, Lightning Lane Multi Pass for Animal Kingdom is between $15 to $16, and on the 4th, the cost to use this service is on the lower end at $15.

So why is it just this one random date in September? We are honestly not too sure, but if we had to make an educated guess, we would say it is because it is right after Labor Day weekend. Most people will come to visit on Friday, stay the weekend, and either travel home on Monday or Tuesday, leaving Wednesday, September 4th, to be a slower day.

If you are planning to visit Disney World in early September, purchasing the Lightning Lane Multi-Pass on September 4th could save you a little cash. And remember, you can book Lightning Lanes for other parks as long as you have a Park Hopper ticket after you start to use your first selected Lightning Lanes. This means that if you purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass for Animal Kingdom for the cheaper price, you can try for Lightning Lanes in Magic Kingdom, which tends to be more expensive. Although, you are not always guaranteed to have the best ride selection.
