Disney has been involved in a number of legal battles in recent years.

From the Reedy Creek problems with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to a recent wrongful death lawsuit after a visitor had an allergic reaction at a Disney World restaurant, we’ve seen several court cases. But now, another Disney World guest has filed a “stampede” lawsuit.

Fox 35 reports that a tourist who came to Disney World this summer is filing a lawsuit after she was knocked over and injured during a “stampede” in Magic Kingdom. Debra O’Steen and her attorneys at Morgan & Morgan filed the negligence suit in Orange County last week after O’Steen visited the park on June 25th.

O’Steen was apparently rushed by a crowd of people while walking on Main Street, U.S.A., getting knocked over in the process. The lawsuit notes that the park was “packed and extremely busy” that day, and alleges that Disney World was negligent in keeping the crowd controlled.

According to the lawsuit, O’Steen suffered bodily and terminal injury, mental and physical pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, hospitalization expenses, and past lost wages. She’s demanding damages and a trial by jury.

The lawsuit notes that Disney World wasn’t doing a good job of controlling the crowds “ahead of the event.” The event in question could be either the Festival of Fantasy Parade or the Happily Ever After fireworks show, both of which took place on that day and tend to draw large crowds.

  1. Oh yes another person looking for a pay day….sorry…these things like parades and fireworks have huge crowds…we always head into a store…or off to the side and let the crowds push their way out….staying safe….people need to plan and take some personal responsibility….or maybe don’t go to places like this

  2. Just ban her for not watching where she was going. They don’t let you run. They tell you to keep walking and not block. What more can they do if you don’t follow direction. This reminds me of the scene in “Animal House” where there was a stampede cuz well you know frat boys us and the security got flattened out….literally

  3. I can see this. My 2 daughters and myself were there in February for the fireworks. As the show ended it was unorganized mayhem. Gone were the many, many cast members who I remember forcefull corralling us all out of the park. My girls were in full survival mode and were seriously concerned a stampede would happen. Worst crowd management I’ve EVER experienced anywhere. It really is a tragedy waiting to happen.
