NEWS: Massive Cruise Line Expansion Announced…But It’ll Take 9 Years to Complete

Here at AllEars, we cover all things Disney Cruise Line as well as all sorts of travel tips. With that said, it was just announced that one of the Disney Cruise Line’s main competitors is about to undergo a major expansion that will make cruising easier in the near future!

According to the Orlando Business Journal, Carnival Cruise Line will be introducing a new class of ships in two-year intervals in 2029, 2031, and 2033!

The expansion will provide a 1.5% annual increase in Carnival cruise capacity between 2025 and 2033,  with the new class providing over 3,000 guest rooms that can carry roughly 8,000 passengers.

According to Carnival Corp. CEO Josh Weinstein, the cruise line will focus on growth to meet demand “for the world’s most popular cruise line” by “strategically directing new capacity to the areas of highest demand at a rate of one to two new ships per year.”

Carnival also wants to emphasize that once the expansion is completed in 2033, the Carnival Cruise Line will boast 16 liquified natural gas vessels, which will make up about 30% of its global fleet.
