Start gearing up for next month NOW!

Not to sound too hyperbolic, but there’s a chance that next month will feature one of the most consequential weeks in Disney history. Specifically, between August 7th and August 11th, several major events are going to make for a wildly busy week and will likely provide a roadmap for the next decade of the Disney company.
August 7th: Disney Q3 Earnings Call
Things begin on the 7th, with the Walt Disney Company’s Q3 earnings call. After releasing prepared written statements before trading opens that morning, Disney will “host a live audio Q&A webcast to discuss fiscal third quarter 2024 financial results beginning at 8:30AM EST / 5:30AM PST on Wednesday, August 7, 2024.”

For reasons that we’ll get to shortly, we’re not expecting to see many major announcements coming from this particular earnings presentation. However, Disney still may surprise us, and if nothing else, it provides a view into the company’s financial performance and overall status.
August 9th: Disney Destiny Bookings Open
Several major events will kick off on August 9th. The first is the opening of bookings for the upcoming Disney Destiny, the upcoming 8th ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. The ship is scheduled for its maiden voyage in December 2025, and Disney will be “unveiling new details about the ship during a 3-day reveal event from July 30th through August 1st.

August 9th: Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
While not as potentially “game-changing” for the future of the company as other events on our list, the 9th will also see the first night of 2024’s edition of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. This beloved annual event promises “a spooky atmosphere and frightful fun.” This year’s version will feature several new editions including new costumes for Mickey and Minnie, more Disney villains present throughout the park, and a new meet & greet experience with Mirabel and Bruno Madrigal from Encanto.

August 9th – August 11th: D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event
The biggest event of the weekend – – and the reason we don’t expect many announcements on the August 7th earnings call – – is the 2024 installment of Disney’s massive convention. The event, which take place at both the Anaheim Convention Center and the massive Honda Center arena, is likely to feature a slew of news and reveals from around the company, including films, television, merchandise, and Disney+ series.

The main event though takes place on the evening of August 10th, when the Horizons Disney Experiences Showcase panel takes place at the Honda Center. Advertised by Disney as “an immersive celebration of Disney Experiences around the world. Accompanied by a special lineup of musical numbers, surprise appearances, and a few familiar faces, Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro will host this exciting showcase, woven together by the theme of music. Throughout the show, fans can expect updates on new and highly anticipated projects across Disney Experiences, along with new ways for generations of fans to connect with their favorite Disney stories”, this panel is where we’re expecting numerous updates and announcements of Disney theme park projects.

We’re hoping to hear about several upcoming projects including more information on Disneyland Forward, confirmation, and potential timelines on the exact offerings of Walt Disney World’s upcoming “Beyond Big Thunder Mountain” and “Tropical Americas” expansions at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom respectively. Beyond that of course, we’re hoping for some more surprise attraction announcements.

The week of August 4th through the 11th should proved to be an incredibly busy – – and important – – one in the history of the Walt Disney Company. Stay tuned to AllEars for coverage of ALL of it!
