NEWS: Actor and Comedian Bob Newhart Dies at Age 94

We are sad to report on the passing of actor and comedian Bob Newhart.

He passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 94 after dealing with several short illnesses. The news was announced by his publicist Jerry Digney, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

A former accountant, Newhart became an overnight success in 1960 with the release of his first comedy album. After that, there was no turning back.

He went on to star in The Bob Newhart Show in 1978 which had 142 episodes and became one of the most popular sitcoms of all time. On top of that, he won a Grammy and an Emmy award during his lengthy career. In 1992, he was inducted into the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame.

Newhart is a Chicago legend and was honored with a statue right on Michigan Avenue. Now, it can be seen at Navy Pier.

Although not his top credit, Newhart is connected to Disney as well. He voiced Bernard in the 1977 animated film, The Rescuers.
