8 Outrageous Souvenirs We Still Can’t Believe Disney Sold

There are lots and lots of souvenirs to choose from when you are at the Disney parks. There is no shortage of stores, and you never know what you might come across as you are shopping.

While you can still find some surprising souvenirs at the Disney parks, there are some outrageous souvenirs that we still can’t believe Disney sold. Let’s take a look at a few and take a step into the past of Disney parks!

We are starting off with a surprising one. Did you know that Disneyland Park used to have a lingerie store? The store was called Hollywood-Maxwell’s Intimate Apparel Shop. The store had a Wonderful Wizard of Bras, who would educate guests about the history of lingerie. You could also pick out your very own piece of Disney lingerie.

However, the Intimate Apparel Shop was not the only store that may seem odd now. Back in the day you could also visit a tobacco store on Main Street U.S.A. in Disneyland Park. The store was called the Tobacconist, and you could buy hand-carved Disneyland pipes, as well as a special blend of pipe tobacco.

The next two items were discovered in The Walt Disney Archives in Burbank, California. While The Walt Disney Archives do not keep every single piece of merchandise that was ever created, they do have licensee files, catalogs, and a large collection of physical samples. One of these items was an Oil Lamp.

The Oil Lamp was sold in Walt Disney World and featured pink accents. Additionally, you could also get a Walt Disney World Thermometer (pictured on the right).

While you may not be able to purchase either of these items today, it is always amazing to take a look at some of the merchandise that was offered in the past.

Next up, we are taking a look at an interactive Mickey Mouse doll that was a tour guide of the parks. Pal Mickey debuted in April 2003 in Disney World, and provided park tips, fun facts, and jokes while you were in Disney World. Pal Mickey also played three different games.

When Pal Mickey was first introduced he could either be purchased or rented at the park. Disney later introduced a Spanish speaking Pal Mickey, but eventually stopped selling the plush in 2008.

MousekeEars which debuted at both Disneyland and Disney World in October 2012. These ears were based on the popular character-inspired ear hats. Designers decided to shrink them down and sell them as collectibles. Each MousekeEars came with a removable chin strap, key chain and hair clip.

These souvenirs could fit in the palm of you hand, and the idea was to release various collections including country flags from World Showcase in EPCOT and popular Disney characters. While this was definitely a cute idea, the MousekeEars did not catch on as a souvenir.

There are also some food items that go down as a bit of outrageous souvenirs. First off are these The Little Mermaid Fish Nuggets. These are fish nuggets called Dip Sea Dooz. They were created through a partnership of American Pride and Disney.

While the box is pretty, and we can kind of see where they are coming from, we are a bit shocked that they decided fish nuggets were the route to go. Ariel lives in the ocean and one of her best friends is a fish. A bit of an odd choice.

Finally, this list wouldn’t be complete without the Poop Candy from Zuri’s Sweets Shop in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. These pieces of candy were designed to look like different animal poops.

You could get edible versions of Elephant, Giraffe, Cotton Top Tamarin, and Hippo poop. Don’t worry though, the ingredients had nothing to do with actual poop and included things like pretzels, peanut butter, oats, coconut flakes, brownies, and more.

It is always fun to take a look at Disney’s past and take a peek at some of the souvenirs that the parks used to sell. You never know what souvenirs we are seeing today might end up on a list like this in the future!
