The company, like the rest of us, went through a pandemic that had some major financial consequences. Since then, Bob Iger returned as CEO, Disney has faced legal battles in the state of Florida, and they were involved in a big way in the writer and actor strikes in 2023. And throughout that turmoil, it looks like public perception of Disney may have dropped a bit.

Fortune just released its list of World’s Most Admired companies for this year, and there have bene some shake-ups. Last year, Disney ranked at number 6 on the list, but this year, they’ve fallen to the 12th spot.

Even at number 6 overall, Disney held the spot for most-admired entertainment company last year. But now, that honor goes to Netflix. Disney has been forced to make many difficult decisions in regards to its streaming business in recent years, in an attempt to compete with Netflix.

The top three spots on the list all go to tech companies this year. The most-admired company is Apple, followed by Microsoft and Amazon.
