The past few years have been a whirlwind for The Walt Disney Company, from the global pandemic, to theme park changes, to halts in film production due to actors’ and writers’ strikes.

Current (and former) Disney CEO Bob Iger has played a role in many of the key changes and tribulations that many entertainment companies have faced over the past few years. Iger was CEO until February, 2020, when Bob Chapek took over, but was asked to return in November, 2022. Now, after a full fiscal year with Iger back in charge, we have a glimpse of his earnings.

Iger’s salary — along with several other executives’ —  was released in an SEC filing on January 16th. In fiscal 2023, CEO Bob Iger made $32,123,717.

This number includes base pay, bonuses, stock awards, stock-option awards, and other compensation. Also included in the report was the average salary of a Disney employee in 2023, which was $54,010. The report puts this into perspective for us: that ratio is 595:1.

According to Variety, the number is actually down from what Iger received in his full year of employment in 2021, when he made $45.9 million.

We’re interested to see how that number changes in the next year, as Iger has set his mind to accomplish some major changes based on four building opportunities, as he shared in the final earnings call of 2023. Although his contract was initially supposed to end in 2024, we learned last year that it would be extended until December 31st, 2026 — so we’ll have to wait and see if Iger pulls through with those changes!
