I Have Some Unpopular Opinions About My Stay At Fort Wilderness In Disney World

Disney Resorts are their own kind of vacation!

Fort Wilderness Resort

From amazing new restaurants, to refurbishments, and o ongoing construction, the Disney World resort hotels are constantly changing! Going to a Disney World resort can open up a whole new side to the theme parks you didn’t even know about. But, my latest stay at Disney’s Fort Wilderness left me with some unpopular opinions.

Recently I had the amazing opportunity to spend a significant amount of time at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, and the opinions it left me with are probably unpopular ones! I had been to this resort before, but never for this long. One thing that surprised me is how much I loved it!

Howdy!

We started out horseback riding in the morning, which was such an amazing and relaxing experience. You can book this 45-minute experience for only $55 on Disney’s website, and I can’t recommend it enough.

Horseback riding!

We all had very limited experience with horseback riding, but that wasn’t an issue at all! The horses were very well trained, and the cast members helped us the entire time when needed. After we had such an amazing start to our morning, we grabbed our golf cart and headed over to try our hand at archery!

We’re living out our Brave-inspired dreams!

This was easily one of the most fun experiences I have ever had in Disney World! This $45 experience lasted for 75 minutes, and I had a blast the entire time. Cast Members gave us lessons on the correct stance, how to shoot, and safety procedures. After some quick lessons, we were ready to change our fate! (Get it? Brave?)

Archery!

This experience truly felt like it was worth the money — especially because of how long it was. While I like to think I was the best shooter in our group, I’ll let you decide once you see our video on it. We stopped in our cabin for a bit to check it out and get settled in.

While it might not be the fanciest Disney World hotel room, I loved this cabin! It was so incredibly spacious and even had a full kitchen, which most Disney World rooms don’t have.

Full Kitchen

Since there were only four of us, there was plenty of room for our bags and for us to stretch out. The ultimate catch, though? Only two of us were staying in the room! We were doing our ultimate Fort Wilderness Smackdown, and the winners got to stay in the cabin while the losers stayed in a tent.

The bedroom in the cabin.

I’m so excited for you guys to see who wins the cabin in the end but I won’t spoil it! You’ll have to watch the video to find out!

Then we spent the rest of our day doing lots of activities running around the campground and ended our day at the Chip N’ Dale Campfire Sing-A-Long!

The Campfire Sing-A-Long

This outdoor sing-a-long was so much fun. We all sang at the top of our lungs and enjoyed s’mores by the campfire with Chip N’ Dale. All of this to be said though, what is my most unpopular opinion?

It’s Chip ‘n’ Dale!

My unpopular opinion is I think I enjoyed going to Fort Wilderness more than going to the Disney World parks! I can’t believe that I’m even writing this but I genuinely mean it.

S’mores!

This was the most fun and relaxing day I have had at Disney in such a long time, and I am a huge Disney parks fan! It was such an unexpectedly good time, and we didn’t even make it to one of the most famous dining spots in Disney World, Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue.

Overall, I can’t speak highly enough about this resort! It almost felt like you weren’t even in Disney World but in such an exciting way. It was different and there was so much to do we could have spent a few more days there. You can see all of the fun we had here!

This might be one of my favorite places in all of Disney World. Remember to keep following AllEars for all of our best Disney tips, tricks, and secrets!

  1. I agree with your unpopular opinion. We will only stay at Fort Wilderness from now on, but I agree that is also very expensive, especially since they call it a moderate hotel. If it’s a moderate it should be priced like Coronado and Caribbean beach and not like a deluxe hotel. We just stayed there for 3 nights and 4 days but two of the nights that we stayed were nights at Chip and Dale weren’t at the sing-along so that was probably the biggest disappointment the other night that we stayed. We were at the Hoop-Dee-Doo review.

  2. I hear disney is removing all the cabins and replacing with new ones. This makes me sad because the new ones will be more than many families can afford

  3. So glad you got to do the Sing-a-long. When we were there May20-28 2022 we stayed in a cabin and our twin (then) 9 y.o. boys loved it!! They were not doing the Sing-a-long when we were there though the did the Squires. This was my boys first Disney trip. When we left the asked to stay there again saying “we don’t even need to go to the parks!”

  4. I love Fort Wilderness. We have camped there several times. We camp at Fort Wilderness with no plans of going to any of the parks. Fort Wilderness has plenty of activities to keep young and old occupied.

  5. The only problem with fort wilderness is the price. It’s so expensive both compared to other choices and compared to past prices.
For example, stay at dolphin for $250 per night or use a camper for $125 per night on their worst location needing a $65 golf cart.

Even if one already owns an RV, it’s usually more $$ in gas than a car or sometimes even more than flying and airport transfer.

Camping should never be equal or more expensive than flying and staying walking distance to both Epcot and DHS!!
