Welcome to Disney World!

Disney’s Reedy Creek District is going through a lot of changes right now as they’re preparing for some major shifts after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ bill. However, the district has approved a HUGE project that will majorly affect Disney’s roadways.

The Reedy Creek Improvement District has just approved a major change in one of its current roadway projects, making it one of the largest projects in the park’s 50-year history, according to the Orlando Business Journal.

On February 22nd, the district approved a “$74.5 million increase to its preliminary budget for the third phase of the World Drive North extension project.” This project now includes the following:

  • “The construction of approximately 1.6 miles of four-lane roadway and a four-lane, roughly 100-foot vehicular bridge” (Yes, a bridge!)
  • “Mechanically stabilized earth retaining walls, and three roundabouts”
  • “Utility protection structures, relocation of underground utility conveyance systems, roadway lighting, pavement marking, landscaping,” among other things

The timeline of the project is currently unknown, but when it begins, it’s expected to take around 2 years. District Board Member Donald R. Greer said in the meeting that it’ll help improve traffic flow and guest experience.
