Whether you’re arguing with your friends about which county to hit first in EPCOT, or trying to decide which rides in Magic Kingdom are must-dos, many Disney fans have their own favorite ways to ensure a good park day.
One thing we can all agree on — being prepared is essential. That’s why we’re sharing with you a big detail that might affect your upcoming trip to Disney World.
Heading to Magic Kingdom this month? Well, this month is tricky, guys. We’ve got two ride closures happening, and they’re both in Frontierland.
That’s right: both Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad are closing this month. Last month, we finally got a closing date for Splash Mountain — and this closure is a big one.
As of January 23rd, Disney will be working on converting this ride into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, a retheming that has been highly anticipated.
We got a first look at this new ride at the D23 Expo, and we’re excited to see what’s to come!

This new ride is set to open in late 2024, so it will be a while before this attraction is open.
That’s not all that’s closing, though. Starting January 9th, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be closing for refurbishment. However, this one will only be for a few days. According to Disney, the closure will only last through January 13th.
Make sure you keep these dates in mind If you are visiting Magic Kingdom this month. If you’re hoping to get on Splash Mountain before it closes for its retheme, you have until January 22nd. Stay tuned for more info!
