How Brightline Trains Have Been Impacted by Hurricane Ian

Because of Hurricane Ian, things all across the state of Florida are temporarily shutting down.

Hurricane preparations in Disney World

Disney World and Universal Orlando both announced closures, and we’ve seen similar announcements from airports and nearby businesses. Now we’ve got an update on operations from the Brightline rail service.

According to an announcement released by Brightline, they will operate with a modified schedule on Wednesday, September 28th. During this time, there are 12 scheduled departures and the stations at West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and MiamiCentral will remain open with “essential guest services.”

During this time, there will be no onboard or baggage service, but a train attendant will be onboard for guest safety. All construction on future rail stations and projects is currently suspended due to the weather. An updated railway schedule will be posted by Brightline as it becomes available, so if you’re traveling later this week, they encourage you to follow them both on Twitter and the Brightline website.

If you’re traveling to the Central Florida area, you may find yourself with limited transportation options currently due to closed airports and delayed services. Bad weather is expected to hit in the latter part of Wednesday and continue into Thursday.

We’ll continue to share updates on all the closures in the area, as well as cancelation and refund policies, so keep following along. We’re monitoring the situation closely in the coming days.
