We’ve heard Disney CEO Bob Chapek comment on it, seen patents that introduce Disney’s ideas for it, and the company has even appointed a new executive to be in charge of their strategies for it. But now, they’ve taken it one step further by teaming up with a MAJOR corporation.

T-Mobile just announced that it is joining the Disney Studios StudioLAB “to help develop advanced storytelling capabilities with a new five-year innovation partnership.” T-Mobile will be collaborating with StudioLAB to find “new ways to improve content production and test new forms of immersive experiences.”

According to the announcement, the two companies plan to explore emerging technologies like virtual presence, Mixed Reality, and immersive experiences for consumers. They’ll make use of the Ultra Capacity 5G to learn new ways of producing and distributing content.

So how could this new tech be used? Well, T-Mobile says that ” teams might explore the use of wireless technology that enables executives located anywhere in the world to scout a remote movie location. Other innovations might improve how video content is transferred in real time from remote locations to the cloud using T-Mobile’s 5G network.”
