The New Detail You Missed from Disney’s Splash Mountain Re-Theme News

Today, we saw some of the new artwork that Disney released as inspiration for the Princess and the Frog re-theme coming to Splash Mountain.

As part of the release, Disney shared more details about the ride’s makeover, including information about a big Mardi Gras party at the end and some new character friends you’ll see on the ride! One of the comments a Disney Imagineer made in passing when discussing the ride has us thinking, though.

During a video about the ride’s re-theme and the artwork that inspired it, a Disney Imagineer shared that the people working on the ride want to keep “a continuity” between the end of Princess and the Frog and the future of who Tiana will be.

We heard already that the new ride will take place after the final kiss in Princess and the Frog. The ride is meant to connect Tiana’s past with her future, which is making us wonder — where are we going to see Tiana next? Disney has a new series, Tiana, coming to Disney+ next year, so it’s very possible that the series is what the Imagineers were referring to.

In the new series, which is a long-form musical comedy, Tiana and her friends will go on adventures in both New Orleans and Maldonia (which Tiana is now the princess of).

We’re also wondering — could this ride lead into a Princess and the Frog sequel? Disney hasn’t said anything about a sequel yet, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed!
