Many Disney tourists are looking forward to taking advantage of a new way to get between Disney World and the Orlando International Airport — by train!

The high-speed train Brightline is currently in development for Central Florida and will take passengers between Miami to Tampa, with a stop at Disney Springs. Many of the details are still being ironed out, but Brightline recently shared a glimpse at where the train station may be located at Disney World.

According to the Orlando Business Journal, Brightline presented a map of the Central Florida railway plans earlier this month and it lays out the area in which they are considering placing the train stop in Disney Springs.

The location itself has yet to be revealed, but the orange area on the map represents all of the space that is being considered as they work to determine the most optimal route into the station. The Orlando Business Journal laid the image over a geographical map and it appears that the Disney Springs stop could be located towards the southern part of Disney Springs, near the Orange Parking Garage.

So, if Brightline sticks with the plans to route the train towards the north end of the map, then the stop would occupy the underdeveloped land between Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and the Disney professional offices (also known as Team Disney).

Currently, Brightline is in the process of wrapping up agreements with the local and state governments before they can move forward with the development of the high-speed train. The deadline for them to do so is mid-summer 2021, so we may be getting closer to learning exactly where the Disney Springs stop will be for Disney World travelers.

We will continue to keep an eye on updates regarding the high-seed train, so stay tuned to AllEars for the latest!

  1. First, I think it’s an insult that Disney is ending bus transportation from MCO years ahead of a possible finish date for this rail service. Add to that the fact that they have added stiff parking fees for resort parking and not reduced room rates to compensate for either of these added expenses/loss of services.
Second, if you read between the lines, Brightline’s MCO to Tampa leg is far from a done deal and without it there likely won’t be any WDW stop as this is just a stop off on the Tampa leg. As much as I’d love to see the sensible move to a rail service into the WDW area, I’m seeing too many demands and restrictions being put up by the local Orlando government and state of Fla. for it to come to fruition. I hope I’m wrong. As many have stated, if Disney doesn’t work out a transfer plan for arrivals/departures, the train will be a trip to one giant Uber hub as it will do guests zero good to be dropped off in the Disney Springs area with only existing transportation available and no way to handle luggage.

  2. Picture if you will people with kids and luggage getting off the train from MCO and then heading over to the bus stops to get on the bus to their resort. And the buses getting filled up with people leaving Disney Springs after shopping and eating, families with strollers, and people with scooters and wheelchairs. Add to that people with luggage. I can’t wait. It will be so much fun. Magical doesn’t begin to describe it.
