Disney World’s cast members are an important part of the Disney experience — and Disney guests have many magical stories to share about interactions they’ve had with cast members.

When Walt Disney World closed, many of these cast members were furloughed, although some did eventually return to work. Now, some of those cast members are getting a pay raise.

According to the Orlando Hotel and Restaurant Workers Movement Facebook page, those raises go into effect as of today for union cast members working in Food & Beverage and Mousekeeping.  Union Food & Beverage cast members will get a minimum of  $14 per hour. Union Mousekeeping cast members will get a base pay raise to a minimum of $16 per hour.

These raises apply to almost all the Food & Beverage and Housekeeping Cast Members who have returned to work. Those who remain on furlough will get the raise once they resume working.

However, Disney also just announced massive lay-offs throughout the Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products division. The unions are still in talks with Disney about how many cast members will ultimately be affected by the lay-offs as well as health insurance and other issues.

We will continue to follow the situation closely and keep you updated.
