Experience Pandora culture, hear Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde speak at Orlando art event

Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde will speak this week at the Orlando Museum of Art during its 1st Thursdays series. Rohde, who led the creative team responsible for designing Disney's Animal Kingdom, will be giving two presentations that focus on the important role that art plays in bringing a Disney theme park from concept to reality. The event takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 3 at the museum in downtown Orlando. Specifically, the evening will emphasize its theme of "Celebrating the Beauty of the Natural World" with various aspects related to the new Pandora - The World of Avatar at Animal Kingdom. Participants will sample complimentary food and treats inspired by Animal Kingdom, featuring select items from Satu'li Canteen, the counter service restaurant inside Pandora - The World of Avatar. They also can enjoy listening to live entertainment inspired by the theme park. Rohde's presentations will take place at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. The 1st Thursdays event costs $15 for adults and $5 for children. It's free for kids ages 3 and younger. Orlando Museum of Art members also have complimentary admission. Tickets can be purchased on the website.

Wonderment and Unforgettable Encounters Await at the New Na’vi River Journey in Pandora – The World of Avatar

When Pandora - The World of Avatar opens on May 27, 2017, the new Na'vi River Journey will also open. A family-friendly expedition, the Na'vi River Journey takes guests on an adventure down a gentle, mysterious river hidden within the sacred bioluminescent rainforest in search of the Na'vi Shaman of Songs. The 4-1/2-minute ride will be available as a FastPass+ experience.

Destination D: Amazing Adventures Adds James Cameron, Jon Landau, Bob Chapek to Event Roster

D23 Destination D: Amazing Adventures presented by Ethan Allen | Disney, has added several attendees to its list of panelists. AVATAR creators James Cameron and Jon Landau will join Imagineer Joe Rohde for Pandora - The World of AVATAR, a presentation during which they will unveil new details about the 12-acre land coming soon to Disney's Animal Kingdom. In addition, the event will include a conversation with Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, and a session with Moana screenwriter Jared Bush. This D23 event will take place November 19-20, 2016 at Disney's Contemporary Resort. Tickets, currently on sale, are $190 each for D23 Gold and Gold Family Members.
