The REAL Reason Disney Made This MAJOR Oogie Boogie Bash Change

When this year’s Oogie Boogie Bash was announced, we found out that Disneyland would be replacing the fan-favorite Frightfully Fun Parade with a brand-new offering.

While we’re so excited to see Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake — A Haunted Mansion Street Party this fall, Disney fans are wondering why the beloved Halloween parade was replaced.

At Disney California Adventure, construction is well underway for the upcoming Coco attraction. This ride will take guests on a boat ride adventure with Miguel and Hector through the land of the dead.

Since construction is currently taking place, there are many construction walls up along the entire side of Pixar Pier – which is where the old Frightfully Fun Parade route used to begin.

So, because of this construction, Disneyland decided to release a brand-new parade along a different route. Based on the concept art for the Haunted Mansion Street Party, the floats look significantly slimmer than their Frightfully Fun Parade counterparts, which means they can use a different entrance to start the parade to help avoid the construction.

Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party is a brand-new parade featuring many iconic characters from the Haunted Mansion, including Madame Leota herself. It will have multiple show-stopping moments, notably where Madame Leota conducts her séance, and ghosts dance in a swinging wake. We are so excited for this new offering, but it is important to note that this isn’t a formal parade. The show will quite literally stop and feature mini-performances along the route.

The concept art shows several key moments from the ride, including the stretching room and the graveyard scene. Plus, there will be dozens of props from the attraction, including the conservatory casket, cryptic gravestones, gargoyle candleholders, haunted armor, and stretching room portraits.
