Is Disney World Bringing Back This Transportation Rule?

Memorial Day is just around the corner, and it’s possible that a new Disney Springs rule could be coming back into place.

Disney Springs bus stop

Around Easter, Disney Springs started limiting buses to hotel guests, requiring guests to show their hotel reservation before hopping on the free transportation. This was originally one of the best ways to check out the different resorts, and while the rule went away after the busy time period, it could be coming back.

Memorial Day weekend is May 22nd to 25th, and we wouldn’t be surprised if the rule comes back to limit the number of people going to hotels and using the free transportation. During the busy time, Guest Relations Cast Members were stationed near the bus stop, checking people’s reservations and making sure they had a hotel or restaurant reservation.

Something has changed at Disney Springs

Why does this matter so much, considering most of Disney World’s transportation is free? Well, parking is free at Disney Springs, but you have to pay to park at the parks. Traditionally, you also can’t park at the hotels unless you are a guest or have a dining reservation, so it seems that it comes down to crowds.

If you’re looking at resort hopping, which is visiting more than one hotel and seeing what they have to offer, you might want to skip during Memorial Day weekend or book a dining reservation. We think the resorts are a perfect way to escape the chaos of the parks, so we won’t say no to a nice, long dinner at the resorts.

You can also park at the four theme parks, and yes, you do have to pay for parking if you aren’t an Annual Passholder, but from there, you can take the monorail, Skyliner, or walk to other resorts. You can also take the buses from there.

Want to take a rideshare? You’ll want to set your destination to a park, and not the hotel unless you have a reservation, because security usually doesn’t let you in. Yep, even if you’re not parking, you might have an issue, so choosing a close park might be the way to go.

We’ll be keeping an eye on this to see if it comes back, and make sure you keep following AllEars for more updates.
