Are you bringing a Loungefly to Disney World? We’ve got some RULES for you!

These little bags are oh-so-popular, but you’ve got to master the art of carrying one. We’ve been using them for years, so we have quite a few tips to share.
You Can Bring Your Bag on Most Rides
The great thing about going to Disney World is that you can bring your Loungefly and other park bags on most rides. At Universal Orlando, you’re often required to put your belongings in a locker, but on Disney rides, you can set your items at your feet, and they’ll stay put (physics, everyone!).

The one exception to this rule is TRON Lightcycle / Run, which only has on-ride storage for small items like glasses or phones. There, you’ll need to put your Loungefly in a locker, along with any other loose articles, before you board.

You Need a Method to Keep Things Organized
Next, we’re going to recommend that you get organized! A typical Loungefly backpack design comes with a small pocket on the front, two slip pockets on the sides, and one big main pocket. The problem here is that it’s easy for things to get lost in the big pocket. That’s where the Loungefly organizer comes in.

This handy-dandy tool is available on Amazon and slips easily into your backpack. It has several more pockets for simple organization, and we’ve used it in the parks many times. Big fans of this one!
You Might Have to Remove Items to Go Through Security
Now, swapping over to a rule that’s actually made by Disney — everyone has to go through security when they arrive at the parks or Disney Springs. You’ll walk through security scanners with your belongings, and if it goes off, you’ll be pulled to the side for a bag search. Over the years, we’ve discovered that some items in our bags will “set off” the scanners.

If you remove those items beforehand and hold them out in front of you, the Cast Members will be able to see what you’re carrying and won’t have to search you. Things that typically set off the scanners include umbrellas, metal water bottles, glasses or sunglasses cases, and large power banks.

You’ll Need a Water Bottle Plan
If you’re carrying a reusable water bottle with you for the day (which we highly recommend — gotta hydrate!), you might want to plan in advance. Many larger water bottles are too tall to fit inside the standard Loungefly bags, so you’d have to hold it in your hand all day.

The side pockets of the bag also aren’t very big, so we typically recommend either choosing a bottle that fits into your bag or getting a carabiner clip to attach your bottle to the Loungefly’s hardware. A water bottle is a must-have item for us!

Be Careful With Your Fabric Choice
Loungefly backpacks come in a few different fabric options. The most common is faux leather, and it’s very versatile, easy to clean, and repels water the best. The two fabric types you might have to worry more about are the sequined bags and the canvas bags.

The canvas bags tend to be easier to stain and do NOT repel water well on a rainy day (I’ve ended up with a bag full of soaking belongings before). The sequined bags are more prone to snagging on clothes or hair, and while they’re quite pretty, that effect can be annoying after a while. Just know what your personal needs are, and you’ll be able to choose the right fabric for you.

Don’t Forget to Clean It!
Last but not least, we’ve got to remind you to CLEAN YOUR BAG. It’s easy to forget about washing and cleaning these when you’re preoccupied with all your other post-vacation laundry, but you’ll get more life out of your Loungefly backpacks if you take care of them. And they can be pretty pricey, so you want them to last!

If you spill something on the bag while in the parks, try to wipe it off quickly. We like to carry wet wipes in our bag for many reasons, but this is a big one. Also, it’s good to clean the straps of the bag, since they’ll likely be tucked in sweaty armpits for days at a time. You don’t want your bag to stink!

Loungeflys are some of the most popular Disney park bags of all time — you’re going to see them ALL over the place on your trip! If you keep these rules in mind, you’ll easily assimilate into the Loungefly-loving crowd of Disney Adults.
