4 Important Rules to Know About Disney World Security for 2026

If you plan on visiting any of Disney World’s four parks or Disney Springs, you’ll need to pass through security checkpoints before you can enter the parks or the shopping and dining district.

The good news is that Disney World has some pretty high-tech security scanners that you just have to walk through, so you don’t have to worry about bag checks like you did in the past. This speeds up the process and makes it more efficient. However, there are some rules you’ll need to know before you go through security in Disney World, so we’re going to outline the most important for your 2026 trip.

We also have to mention that security is a little different if you’re taking the Monorail. If you’re staying at a Monorail hotel, you will go through a security checkpoint before you board the Monorail. The Monorail stations for EPCOT and Magic Kingdom, though, are inside the parks, so you will only have to go through security at the hotel.

Know what items are prohibited

Disney World has a long list of items you cannot bring into the theme parks or Disney Springs on their website. This includes firearms, knives, illegal substances, large coolers or bags, strollers over a certain size, selfie sticks, tripods, and more.

It is highly recommended that you look over the full list of prohibited items before you go through security.

Take metal objects out of bags

If you have any metal objects in your bags, you need to take them out and hold them in your hands as you go through security, away from your body and other people. This includes things like metal sunglasses cases, metal water bottles, umbrellas, and other metal objects.

Mini Umbrella

If, for some reason, the detectors go off, you’ll be taken aside, and a Cast Member will do a full bag check.

Know the new stroller policy

Previously, only one adult with a stroller could go through security, but that’s recently changed. Now, two adults with strollers can go through security. Now, we have to warn you that this doesn’t seem to be something that happens all the time. But we’ve seen it in some parks, especially when things aren’t so busy.

We’ve also noticed a security change at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where one security entrance is for those with “wheels” while another is for those who are walking through without strollers or wheeled items.

Show up early

Although the security process is much more efficient now, you still might find yourself standing in a long line, especially during busier times of the year (for example, on holidays). You’ll also see security lines get backed up during rope drop. If you’re coming to Magic Kingdom via the Transportation and Ticket Center, you’ll also often find long lines to get through security there.

Your best bet is to arrive as early as you can so you can get through security and on to your day in the park.

These four rules will help you get through security as quickly as possible, so you can get on with your day in Disney World. We’ll keep sharing more tips and tricks with you, so be sure to keep following AllEars for more.
