What Is Costco’s “VIP Hour” Perk, and Do You Qualify?

I don’t know about you, but I love Costco. There’s something about roaming through the massive aisles that brings a sense of peace. Costco’s hours have just changed, and a perk is BACK for many cardholders, but not all.

There are a few different tiers to Costco’s membership — Gold Star ($65 a year), Business ($65 a year), and Executive ($130 a year). While deciding which one is best for you and your family is up to you, there’s a special perk that’s now available for just ONE tier. Some Costco members now get VIP shopping hours — are you one of them?

According to ABC News, Costco is now officially allowing Executive members, the highest tier of membership, into the store early for prime shopping hours. This perk was originally only available at certain warehouses, but now it’s being implemented across all stores.

This means that all Costco stores will now open an hour earlier at 9 AM. Mondays-Fridays, Executive cardholders will be allowed to shop in the store from 9-10 AM before everyone else, on Saturdays, they can shop from 9-9:30 AM, and on Sundays from 9-10 AM. If you want lower crowds and a faster shopping experience, this is the way to go, as Gold Star and Business members will need to wait until the store opens for them to shop.

Additionally, a spokesperson for Costco confirmed that U.S. warehouses will stay open one extra hour on Saturdays, now closing at 7 PM, for all members. I know for me personally, that will help a TON — I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to Costco after work on a Saturday only to find they’re already closed, or I have 10 minutes to shop and that wouldn’t even be worth it.
