Universal just announced that the Jurassic Park River Adventure at Universal’s Islands of Adventure will close for a nearly 11-month refurbishment in 2026. Let’s take a look at the details.

If there’s any time to try to get on Jurassic Park River Adventure, it’s now. The popular attraction will close on January 5th, 2026, through November 19th, 2026. The ride will be open for the remainder of 2025, so get that Universal trip booked!

Universal hasn’t made any announcement regarding the reason for this extensive refurbishment. We’re thinking it could just be general maintenance, unless they say otherwise.

Jurassic Park River Adventure is one of the main attractions at Islands of Adventure. It’s a fan favorite amongst guests due to its popular IP, large scale, and thrilling story — not to mention the 85-foot plunge into water!

If you’re a Jurassic Park fan or a dinosaur fan in general, there are still a few rides available at the park themed after the iconic movie series. The Jurassic Park area also has the Velosicoaster and the Pteranodon Flyers. There are also areas to explore, like the Camp Jurassic playground, the Jurassic Park Discovery Center, and the Raptor Encounter.

In this Florida heat, it sucks when a water ride, of all rides, closes. They’re a great way to cool down and get soaked on a hot day. Luckily, Islands of Adventure still has two water rides for guests to enjoy. You can enjoy both Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls and Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges — which get you more soaked than Jurassic Park!

It’s always a bummer when a popular ride has to close, especially for this long, but it’s good that the park is always being maintained! For more theme park news and updates, make sure to stay tuned to AllEars.
