Something WEIRD Is Going On With Disneyland Crowds Today

Happy Birthday, Disneyland!

Disneyland has been hosting its 70th Anniversary celebration for a couple of months now, but today is the BIG day — today is officially Disneyland’s 70th birthday!

On July 17th, 1955, Walt Disney introduced Disneyland to the world, giving his iconic “To all who come to this happy place, welcome…” speech. *instant tears* Now it’s July 17th, 2025, and 70 years later, Disneyland is still as beloved as ever.

The Disneyland 70th Anniversary has been one to remember so far. It has offered exclusive entertainment, new merchandise, new snacks and drinks, and more! With all the new stuff, the gorgeous decorations, and the birthday of Disneyland being today, we had to come check out the crowds — because we had a feeling it was going to be a busy one.

WOW!

Magic Key passes for Disneyland’s 70th sold out way back in April, and that “at capacity” warning is evident! Even though we arrived way earlier than the park’s opening hour, we were already met with lines down the road to get into the park, and by the time we walked up to the gates, we had an even tougher time deciphering where a line started and ended.

Everyone was up bright and early today

Disneyland Cast Members were also walking up and down lines, row by row, marveling at just how many people had turned out to celebrate such an iconic day in Disney history!

Moving up the lines

After the security checks, we finally got up to the line at the gates and the esplanade. It was a while before we actually started moving up, and eventually we were able to make our way into the park. Phew — what a morning!

Lines for days

Once we made our way inside, the crowds didn’t seem to let up! We were shocked at the sheer number of people waiting to pick up their commemorative buttons and park maps just past the ticketing.

As we ventured further in, nothing could have prepared us for the number of people we saw walking up and down Main Street, U.S.A.!

Look at the crowds!

It’s just a sea of people’s heads as they bobbed and weaved between the traffic to get to their next destination. Eventually, we made our way down further towards Sleeping Beauty Castle, but that didn’t seem to deter the crowds much, either.

Seeing all of these folks proves we’re in for a full day at Disneyland as we celebrate its 70th anniversary. It’s important to remember to stay hydrated and pack your patience today as you move from ride to attraction, and give yourself plenty of time to find your spot for those limited offerings throughout the day as Disneyland celebrates.

We are very fortunate to come and celebrate Disneyland’s big birthday. You NEED to try to make a trip to Anaheim to come see the park during the rest of the celebration. Don’t worry — you still have time, as the anniversary will last all year and into the beginning of 2026.
