Last year, The Walt Disney Company and Charter Communications had a pretty big dispute that ended up seeing Disney-owned channels, including ESPN and ABC, pulled from Spectrum cable TV subscribers.

The two companies did eventually come to an agreement, ending the blackout on Spectrum just before the first Monday Night Football game of the year. Well, now, one result of that agreement is available to Spectrum cable TV subscribers: free Disney+.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Spectrum TV select customers now have access to the ad-supported version of the Disney+ streaming subscription service for free. This free access is part of the deal struck between the two companies after their dispute.

Additionally, this deal also gives Spectrum TV Select Plus subscribers free ESPN+. That will be coming to those subscribers in a few months. In exchange for these services, Charter has agreed to market Disney’s streaming services to all its broadband customers. However, some Disney-owned channels are no longer being offered on Spectrum. These channels include Freeform, FXX, Disney Junior, and Nat Geo Wild.

“The inclusion of Disney+ alongside a curated lineup of our TV channels brings the best of both worlds from Disney’s unrivaled entertainment portfolio to Charter’s video customers,” said Justin Connolly, president, platform distribution, The Walt Disney Company. “Our goal has always been to meet consumers where they are, and these collective offerings will maximize value for Spectrum TV Select customers while simultaneously broadening the audience of our advertiser supported streaming services.”
