Why Disney Fans Seriously Can’t Wait Till Next Week

Next week is a BIG week for Disney fans because it’ll officially be D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event!

Every two years, the D23 Expo takes place in Anaheim, California, and it truly is the ultimate fan experience. From behind-the-scenes looks to exclusive shopping experiences to meet-and-greets, we’re beyond excited to experience the Expo once again. Of course, it’s not just big for fans who are going, but for Disney fans around the world. Why? Because we’re going to get TONS of project announcements and updates across the company!

The time has come! D23: The Ultimate Fan Experience officially starts next week, running from August 14th through 16th. This fan event features all of the biggest celebrities and Disney executives who share big news about upcoming projects, behind-the-scenes info on their latest movies or shows, updates on the Disney Parks, and more.

On the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of the event, the show floor at the Anaheim Convention Center will be available. The show floor is where you’ll find behind-the-scenes looks at upcoming projects from experiences to the big screen. You’ll also find exclusive giveaways, meet-and-greets, art signings, entertainment, shopping, interactive experiences, and more!

The show floor features pavilions of some of Disney’s biggest brands, including Marvel, Lucasfilm, Avatar, Pixar, Disney Animation, Disney+, and more. They’re there for you to explore, and it’s something we could do all day long.

The show floor will also feature a LOT of shopping! In fact, there are going to be over eight BIG shopping experiences featured at the D23 Expo this year. Some of the places include the D23 Marketplace, Disney Store, The Walt Disney Company Store, Mickey’s of Glendale, and more. Shopping at D23 is an experience of its own, and it’s a great way for hardcore collectors and Disney souvenir lovers alike to get their hands on the most exclusive merch there is. There’s even a new brand designed by Walt Disney Imagineering dropping at D23 this year called .YNSD.

Look, we’re excited for it all, but nothing excites us as much as the massive panel presentations. Each night of the three-day D23 Expo, there’s a presentation at the Honda Center. They used to be at the Anaheim Convention Center, but they changed to the Honda Center in 2024, and it’s a grander experience.

On Friday, August 14th, guests can experience the Disney Entertainment Showcase at the Honda Center. This panel features celebrities who will drop by to give exclusive first looks at upcoming Disney films and TV series, exciting NEW announcements, and even musical performances! Of course, we won’t know what’s certain till the presentation, but we’re anticipating that we’ll get information on things like Marvel Studios’ VisionQuest and Avengers: Doomsday, Pixar’s Gatto, Disney’s Frozen 3, Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: Starfighter, and more.

We mentioned that the Disney Entertainment Showcase panel also comes with many new surprises. Could we hear about a new Hercules live-action? Does Marvel have anything else up their sleeve besides Ghost Rider and Black Panther 3, which were announced at Comic Con? Is a new Star Wars trilogy on the way? Is Pixar going to make another Monsters, Inc. movie? Only time will tell!

Saturday, August 15th, is the big one for theme park fans! That evening will be the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase. This is when we’ll get those major theme park announcements, updates, and more directly from Imagineers and the Disney team who are working on them. This showcase was arguably the biggest it’s ever been in 2024, which featured massive projects that we haven’t stopped talking about ever since.

This year, it will be inspired by the Carousel of Progress, with Neil Patrick Harris serving as the host. We’re expecting to get news and updates on things like Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Tropical Americas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Piston Peak and Villains Land at Magic Kingdom, Avatar and Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure, and updates on the international parks’ projects. Disney also promises a few surprises along the way in this one!

Finally, Sunday, August 16th, will be the Disney Legends Awards Ceremony! This will be hosted by Ryan Seacrest, and it focuses on those being awarded Disney Legend status! This year’s inductees include Chris Berman, Jerry Bruckheimer, Susan Egan, Eric Goldberg, Anne Hathaway, Bob Iger, Kim Irvine, Dwayne Johnson, the Jonas Brothers, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Alan Tudyk. This event includes several speeches from each new Legend and performances throughout.
