A Huge TSA Change Starts Next Week and It Could Impact Your Disney Trip

A big TSA change starts next week, and it could impact your next Disney trip. As of May 7th, 2025, TSA requires all travelers over 18 to present a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or identification card, or another accepted form of identification, such as a passport, to go through security.

While the REAL ID requirement has been officially in place for more than six months, TSA is starting to crack down on travelers who are still traveling without an acceptable form of ID.

Starting February 1st, 2026, if you are flying without an acceptable form of ID, such as a passport or REAL ID, you can pay a $45 fee to use TSA ConfirmID. With TSA ConfirmID, TSA will attempt to verify your identity without an acceptable form of ID so you can go through security; however, the service does not guarantee TSA will be able to verify your identity.

TSA states that using TSA ConfirmID is optional, but if you choose not to use it and do not have an acceptable ID, “you may not be allowed through security and may miss your flight.” If you know you will be flying without an acceptable ID, TSA is offering the option to prepay for TSA ConfirmID before your flight. You can head to the TSA website to pay the $45 fee in advance and present the receipt at the TSA checkpoint.

If you do utilize the TSA ConfirmID service to verify your identity, your $45 fee allows you to use TSA ConfirmID for 10 days from the date of travel. So if you are flying again within 10 days of your first trip, you won’t need to pay the $45 fee again. However, if your next travel date is more than 10 days later, you will need to pay the $45 fee again to use the TSA ConfirmID service. Again, keep in mind that paying for the service does not guarantee that TSA will be able to verify your identity to go through security at the airport.

The best way to ensure a smooth experience through TSA security is to have an acceptable form of ID. You can find a full list of acceptable identification for TSA here. If you do not have acceptable identification, make sure you leave yourself plenty of time before your flight to obtain it. If you aren’t able to get an acceptable form of identification, you can use the TSA ConfirmID service to attempt to verify your identity for TSA security.
