A new bill has been signed in Florida connected to automatic gratuity in restaurants.

Dining in Disney World is about to look a bit different! The new bill is going to change the look of your receipt and how the tip is listed within the state and Disney.
If you haven’t been following the Florida State Legislature, Bill SB 606 was signed into law on June 2nd. 2025. This bill includes several different topics, but if you’re dining in Disney World, you’ll want to know about one part of the bill specifically dealing with gratuity.

The section of the bill that will impact you directly says that every public food establishment that charges an automatic gratuity will have to easily show that gratuity is added on the menu, written contract, website, or mobile app where the orders are placed. This will make it easier for guests to notice the additional cost.

The bill states, “Each copy of the receipt that a customer receives must contain separate lines for gratuity, an operations charge, and sales tax so that it is clear to the customer what is being charged. If the operations charge includes an automatic gratuity, it must be separately stated on the receipt.” This essentially means that you will see how much you are paying in addition to your meal in multiple places.

When the bill refers to an “operation change,” it simply means any automatic fees or charges that are not a government-added tax that you will be required to pay on top of your food and beverages. That could mean any fees like service charges, automatic gratuities, credit card surcharges, or delivery fees. The goal is essentially to remove any hidden fees so you know exactly why your bill costs what it does.Â

How does this impact Disney, though? It will just essentially change the way your bill looks and some of the menus around the property. Automatic gratuity (which you will find a lot of times when you have parties of 6 or more people) will now have its own line, so it’s clear what’s being paid. Â

The bill does clarify that it won’t impact the purchase of dining plans or packages or fixed-price meals that have the price disclosed before you purchase. The bill goes into effect on July 1st, 2025, however, the section for automatic tips doesn’t become effective until next year.Â
