Themes Announced for the 2026 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend — Including Miss Piggy Yoga!

Racing at Disney’s parks is no easy feat, and half the fun of running a runDisney race (besides the adorable medals and getting to run through Disney’s parks) is learning the upcoming themes! runDisney just released the highly anticipated themes for 2026, and we can’t wait to see the “joy” it brings!

runDisney had just revealed one of the most anticipated themes for an upcoming race weekend in 2026! The Disneyland Half Marathon has become a popular choice for avid runDisney runners and beginners running their first Disney races. These weekends are typically comprised of a 5K, 10K, and half marathon race each day, with those opting to complete the challenge of all the races through the event earning an additional challenge medal.

While the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend has come and gone for 2025, there are already runners eagerly anticipating the opportunity to sign up for this event for next year’s races. runDisney has just revealed that the 2026 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend races will carry a “happy” theme as they’ll be taking place over a milestone year for Disneyland!

Next year’s Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend presented by Honda will take place between January 29th and February 1st, 2026, which also happens to be during the 70th anniversary of Disneyland! This race weekend’s theme will highlight “different ways to celebrate what delights us most.” It’s like running “the Happiest Race on Earth at the Happiest Place on Earth.”

As we mentioned before, the race weekend is comprised of several races. The 5K race will take place on January 30th, as you join Joy from Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out films to “Celebrate Joy” during your 3.1 miles!

The following day, on January 31st, get ready for 6.2 miles with Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey as you “Celebrate Imagination!” (If your running playlist plans for this race don’t include adding the Fantasmic! overture, you need to rethink your plan!)

“Celebrate Togetherness” during 13.1 miles of “it’s a small world” wonders on February 1st as you take on the half marathon with all your other runDisney friends!

runDisney challenge participants can “Celebrate Achievement” with Dumbo and earn an extra medal by finishing both the 10K and the half marathon for a total of 19.3 miles!

Not quite old enough for the bigger races? Don’t worry! Kids ages 9 and under can “Celebrate Laughter” on January 31st as they jump into exciting runs featuring Stitch.

If running’s not totally your fitness outlet or you’re looking for a way to unwind, “Celebrate Smiles” on January 29th during a morning yoga session with the magnificent Miss Piggy in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Ready to be one of the first to sign up for these races? Registration for the 2026 runDisney Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend races and events will open to Club runDisney members starting April 22nd, and general registration will follow beginning April 29th, 2025. These races can fill up quickly, so if you’re looking to get registered for a race (or a few), we’d recommend getting to those sign-ups as early as possible!
