3 Things Cast Members Wish You’d Stop Doing When Getting on Disney Rides

When it comes to Disney tips and advice, it’s safe to say we have A LOT of opinions.

Our team is made up of several former Disney World Cast Members so we’ve seen it all. Over the years, we’ve made several observations about EVERYTHING — including what to do and what not to do when getting on a Disney Park ride.

When it comes to Disney rides, our team (including former Cast Members) suggests avoiding these three things while you’re waiting in line to ride an attraction.

Not Paying Attention

We get that it’s super easy to get distracted in a ride queue. Incredible theming can occupy your attention, you could be lost in deep conversation with members of your party, or you could be so bored and tired from a long wait that you’re drifting off to dreamland.

While it’s understandable to get distracted, we still think it’s important to do your best to pay attention while in line.

Space Mountain line

For starters, not paying attention when it’s your turn to move forward or even board a ride vehicle slows up the rest of the line. It’s no secret that many Disney World rides require LONG wait times, and it’s better to be part of the solution instead of the problem.

Crowds

When in doubt, always have someone be in charge of line awareness so that you’re never responsible for holding the queue up.

Don’t Block the Entrance

You might split up from your party at various times during the day and that’s totally cool — and sometimes recommended! However, there will be times you want to all ride something together, and in those circumstances, there is a place you SHOULDN’T be standing.

Soarin’

Queue entrances are meant to be open, meaning you shouldn’t wait for your party to meet up there. It’s easier for Cast Members and other guests when ride entrances can breathe and allow for smooth foot traffic.

Haunted Mansion Queue

Don’t block pathways in general, but especially in front of rides. Find a more secluded spot where your party can meet up and not impede anyone else.

Don’t Break Rules

At the Disney theme parks, rules DEFINITELY exist for a reason. Whether it be for safety purposes or to create a pleasant experience for everyone, Disney rules are NEVER meant to be broken.

With that in mind, you should always follow rules provided by Cast Members while always being kind and courteous. Don’t be rude and simply follow the rules for the best ride experience possible while making sure you get on AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. This is the way.

  1. Be nice and be rewarded: My 4 y.o. daughter was caught picking up papers blowing around while we were in a long line (agreed…yuck, but:), a cast member scooped us up and took us to the front of the line!
