MagicBands can make your trip to Disney World so much easier.
While MagicBands have seen some design changes since debuting over a decade ago, they still perform the same essential functions. They can act as your hotel room key, your credit card, your park ticket, and so much more! While not every person may be a MagicBand fan, they may change their mind, as MagicBands can be even more helpful for these four reasons.
The latest version of MagicBands are called MagicBand+. These new bands now interact by lighting up and vibrating with certain elements all around the resort. While they are “fancier,” they still perform the same basic functions as the older models of MagicBand.
If you are thinking about ditching your MagicBand or not purchasing one for your upcoming trip, four things you may not think about could convince you to use or purchase one of these handy vacation helpers.
You are planning a pool or water park day
In 2025, guests of Disney World hotels can take advantage of a free visit to one of Disney World’s water parks on their check-in day. If you want to go and enjoy a day at the water park, you don’t want to have to worry about keeping your park ticket and wallet on you throughout the entire day; instead, you can wear your MagicBand to the water park because they are waterproof!
The same can be said for a resort pool day. Having your room key and credit card on your wrist is way easier than having to move your personal belongings throughout the day.
You are planning on purchasing Lightning Lane
Lighting Lane Multi, Single, and Premier Pass are three of Disney World’s new pay-to-skip-the-line options. Once you make your selections and your reservation window rolls around, you will have to scan to get into the Lighting Lane.
Rather than taking out your phone or park ticket at each Lighting Lane, you can simply tap your MagicBand!
You are planning on taking a lot of photos
Throughout the parks and even at some resorts, PhotoPass Cast Members dressed in bright green are ready to snap pictures of you and your party to keep as memories for years to come! Photos can be linked to your My Disney Experience account with a simple tap of your MagicBand, making it easier to ensure your photos get linked.
Your MagicBand even helps ensure that your on-ride photos show up in your account! If you want to be extra cautious, you can tap your MagicBand at the photo area at the end of the attraction to ensure they get linked.
You are traveling with a big party
The odds are that your party will have one “Disney Person” or “leader” in it. This person may be responsible for keeping everyone’s tickets, placing Mobile Orders, and even acting as a park map. Rather than placing the responsibility on one person to scan your party into the park, MagicBands can help each individual scan their own park ticket with little work.
Plus, the people behind you waiting to scan into the park will thank you for keeping the line moving as efficiently as possible!

5. DVC guests or those staying at the new Poly Tower. You will need to scan your Magic Band in the elevator ato get to your floor, you cannot get there otherwise. While your phone will work with your digital ticket, having a Magic Band will make it much easier. A Cast Member will also greet you upon arrival to ensure your bands are working and assigned to the rooms as well.
If you do not have a Band, you can not access the tower floors or their terraces for fireworks viewing, and you can only access the floor you’re staying on (grateful for this, thanks Disney)!
