Magic Kingdom is easily my favorite park, although Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a very close second!
One of my favorite parts about getting to visit the parks is checking out my favorite attractions, but there’s a lot more to Magic Kingdom than the rides. In fact, I’ve been to the parks many times to celebrate special occasions, and something I find myself doing all the time only costs a few dollars, makes for an amazing souvenir, and SO many people have no idea it exists!
You likely know about the free celebration buttons you can get around the Disney World parks and/or sometimes from your Disney hotel lobby.
You can grab one to share the news that you’ve just gotten engaged or married, that it’s your first visit, that you’re celebrating your birthday, or grab a generic “I’m Celebrating” button and fill in whatever you’d like.
That’s personally my favorite button to get, since I’ve been in the parks to celebrate my birthday, a film I acted in ending up on a streaming service, and other various celebrations. However, I don’t have the best handwriting, so sometimes I don’t want to write my own button. If I really want to make a button extra special, there’s one place I take it — Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in Magic Kingdom!
Over at this shop, you can get an amazing button upgrade for only a few dollars! The button is usually ready in about an hour (give or take 10-15 minutes), and costs about $5. You can customize it in any way you’d like (within reason, of course), and you’ll receive a text message when it’s complete.
I’ve done this on more than one occasion and loved it! Now I have all my buttons up on a corkboard in my room and I love looking at them and remembering all my fun trips. However, I have one MAJOR piece of advice — before going ANYWHERE with your amazing button, ask the Cast Members in the store for clear tape to put over the writing. This way, sweat, water, or any other substance/spill won’t ruin the work that’s been done — trust me, Sharpies can’t hold up against EVERYTHING, so getting this tape is 1000% a necessity!
