Will This Strict Hotel Pool Rule Come to Disney World?

A LOT is changing in Disney World right now. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened recently, Country Bear Jamboree just reopened with a brand new show, and Test Track is closed for a re-theming!

We’ve also got a huge Magic Kingdom expansion to look forward to, the re-theming of DinoLand U.S.A. in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and two new restaurants coming to Disney’s BoardWalk. Even Genie+ just went through some big changes. But there’s a new pool rule coming to one Disney property that has us wondering if it will come to Disney World, too.

Let’s head on over to Hawaii to visit Disney’s Aulani Resort and check out some pool policies there. One of the rules at Aulani’s pools is that there is a very strict pool chair policy. If you head out to the pool as soon as it opens to grab a pool chair and leave your stuff on it, you have to stay with your stuff. If you don’t, your things will be removed and the pool chair will be up for grabs for someone else. Thanks to @ericchu for posting a photo of a sign outlining that policy.

We wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a similar policy at Disney World pools. We have seen people marking pool chairs with their things and then walking away, meaning that those chairs aren’t really in use. Saving a chair like this just causes problems for everyone, so it might be a good policy to have.

Aulani also has a NEW policy specifically regarding one of its pools The resort recently announced that its Wailana Pool would be for adults only, starting on August 5th.

This is pretty common on cruise ships, too. Disney Cruise Line ships generally have at least one pool that is only for visitors 18 years and older. Could we see this at Disney World? Many of the hotels have smaller “leisure” pools that could easily be designated as adults only. A lot of Disney World visitors might appreciate it if the quiet pools became even quieter.

Although you will mostly find adults in the quiet pools at Disney World, they’re not designated as adults-only, which means that those pools aren’t always quiet (because, yes, kids swim in them, too). With as many pools as some hotels have, this could be a no-brainer to please adults who want a little kid-free time.

We’ll have to see if these policies make their way to Florida, but we believe many guests might appreciate them if they do.

  1. I would not like to see these changes at Disney World pools. WDW is for families. Although sometimes kids can get obnoxious it’s good for families to be able to get away from the masses.
It is also good to be able to put your things on a chair while you’re swimming unless Disney would like to rent pool lockers for free.
