Universal has been teasing house announcements already, fans of the horror-themed event nights were craving more than just the previously announced original content houses. Now, Universal seems ready to clue us into at least ONE of the IP’s (intellectual property) houses featured this year.

Horror Nights fan screams of anticipation have turned to excitement over the first announced Universal Halloween Horror Nights house-themed after an intellectual property (or IP). The first announced IP house will be featured at BOTH Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort.

Halloween Horror Nights 2021

The thrilling feature film A Quiet Place stars real-life couple John Krasinski and Emily Blunt and their film family as they are forced to experience survival of the fittest by being hunted by massive alien-like creatures who are attracted to loud sounds. That’s not the only challenge they have to overcome as we find out one of their children is hearing impaired and the couple soon finds themselves expecting another baby (which would totally give away their hiding if they don’t come up with a better plan in time).

A Quiet Place is officially the first notable mainstream film to be added to this season’s lineup of haunted houses. The success of the leading Krasinski-directed original film has gone on to spawn more installments of this terrifying franchise with A Quiet Place II, and the upcoming A Quiet Place: Day One and A Quiet Place III, which makes the possibilities for this house’s concept hard to tell.

In the teaser Universal dropped, we see a couple sitting on a laundry mat (bored, nonetheless) waiting for their laundry to be finished.

We start to get a better sense of the impending danger as we see a close-up of the pair and that at least one of them is sporting a hearing aid that screeches loudly as they feel the tremors in the ground shake.

The couple argues via American Sign Language (ASL) about staying or investigating what’s causing the disturbance outside as others are seen feeling and panicking in the streets.

We then see that night has come and the familiar clicking of the “big bad” of the film, which has legs like a spider, the face and hearing as keen of a bat, and sharp teeth catch up with one of our couple who appears to meet a sad fate as he’s pulled away.

This teaser is such a fun one to watch over and over again and it keeps us guessing as to what we could see from the film incorporated inside the house as well as what inspiration Universal’s creative team will draw from the expansive multi-film franchise that might lead to some fun easter eggs to spot while inside.

Could we see Universal make another house announcement streak similar to what we experienced with the original house announcements or do you think this is a singular house announcement and there will be more time in between until we see the next?

Either way, we’ll be sure to keep you updated as Universal announces more about their upcoming seasonal event including more house announcements, food, and ticket options. Be sure to stay tuned with us as we’ll also be bringing you along for everything we do and see during HHN’s opening night!
