Fantasmic! is a nighttime spectacular at Disneyland Park that has been a park staple since 1992. After a lengthy refurbishment that began in April 2023, the show FINALLY returned on May 24th, 2024 with some big changes that we got to see firsthand!

Fantasmic! closed suddenly in 2023 when the Maleficent dragon animatronic caught fire and caused structural damage. Disney then decided to revamp the show with new scenes, characters, the return of the Peter Pan ship sequence, new effects, and more. As you can see, the new special effects look GREAT!

Fantasmic!

Previously, there was a scene with a pirate ship dedicated to Pirates of the Caribbean, but before that, the segment actually featured Peter Pan. Well, the Peter Pan part of the show has returned, and it even features a thrilling sword fight between Peter and Captain Hook from WAY up high.

The character floats also looked like they got a bit of an upgrade. We’re sure Disney took time to spruce up just about everything in the show!

The show’s climax was probably the biggest change. Instead of the famous Mickey vs. Maleficent in her dragon form, Fantasmic! now features Maleficent as herself (not in her dragon form). She does get a chance to fly HIGH above Mickey before being ultimately defeated. There are still some fire effects, but the fire-breathing Maleficent dragon is gone from the show.

If you’re looking to catch the show for yourself, be sure to check the Disneyland website or Disneyland app for show times. The show is pretty popular, so you’ll want to stake out a spot early along the Rivers of America. You can also book a Fantasmic! dining package that gets you a meal plus entrance into a reserved viewing area for the show.

Fantasmic is BACK!

It’s incredibly exciting to see Fantasmic! home and thriving! We’ll continue to keep you posted on Fantasmic! and all kinds of Disneyland news and updates, so stay tuned here at AllEars for all the latest!
