Orlando International Airport just suffered a big loss.

When you think about Orlando International Airport (MCO), a variety of different things may come to mind. Whether you associate it with long TSA lines, the very beginning of your vacation, or even your home airport — there are still a ton of other things it’s known for. If you’ve ever had to park at MCO, maybe you’ll even associate it with the nightmare that is trying to find parking. Unfortunately, it’s going to be even harder.
On February 4th, 2024, it was announced that a MAJOR parking lot that serves MCO is closing. This parking lot is called Park, Bark, and Fly, and it is located just a few minutes away from the airport on Semoran Boulevard.

This parking lot held 3,500 spaces and was one of the most affordable places to park. With day rates sitting around $11 consistently, and free shuttles that brought guests to and from the airport — it is easy to see why this is a major loss for MCO.

With parking spots already being hard to come by, off-site parking lots like this were a great alternative to those who didn’t mind the few extra steps of getting on a shuttle. Plus, with more affordable rates, it’s easy to see why this was a favorite for travelers.

Since this parking lot is closing, what does it mean for travelers? Well, you still have options. Of course, you’re still able to find on-site parking at MCO — just make sure you get there early enough to find a space. Soon, they will be adding reserved parking — so you can secure your spot ahead of time. Until then, just be sure to add a buffer to your arrival time at the airport.

In the future, they are also planning on making tracking down spots a little easier for guests. A new parking guidance system will be added to help guests locate empty parking spots and tell them the number of spots that are still available — so you don’t need to spend all of that extra time driving around parking lots.

If you don’t want to park directly at the airport, we don’t blame you. Don’t worry, there are other parking lots similar to Park, Bark & Ride. Make sure you do your research before picking which lot you decide to leave your car — they all have their own rates and may or may not include shuttle services to the airport.

While this is a big loss to guests who are flying out of MCO, we know that we will adapt and adjust. Luckily, the airport added more than 2,000 parking spaces within the last year — so there are still plenty of options and spaces to choose from.
