The CLOSED Disney World Skyliner Looks Like a Total Ghost Town

We’ve been reminding you that the Disney Skyliner will be shut down for refurbishment.

Disney Skyliner

Well, the day has finally come. The Skyliner in Disney World is officially closed (for now). We love the mode of transportation around Disney, so this is a hard pill for us to swallow. And seriously, you need to check out how eerie it looks without anyone on it.

The Disney Skyliner services EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. Through a series of lines, you can go between the two parks or from one of the several hotels located along it.

But as of January 16th, the Skyliner has closed temporarily for routine maintenance. While this is normal for Disney rides and attractions, we don’t always get to see them up close while they’re not running. But that’s not the case for the Skyliner. We spotted an empty Hollywood Studios station that looked like a ghost town.

Is it just us or is this kind of spooky?

There are signs at the entrance ensuring that nobody forgets that they cannot ride on the gondola for the time being.

No access here

Nothing was moving and it was super still. This is NOT what we’re used to so we found it kind of spooky. The Disney Skyliner is scheduled to be under refurbishment from January 16th through the 21st, with service between Disney’s Riviera Resort and EPCOT’s International Gateway remaining closed through January 27th, 2024.

It’s so still.

If you need to get from your hotel to one of the parks or vice versa, remember there are other transportation options, such as one of the scheduled bus routes. They’re no highway-in-the-sky, but they’ll get you where you need to go (on the actual highway).

Be sure to keep this closure in mind if you’re visiting Disney World from now until January 27th. But in the meantime, keep following AllEars!
